Average electricity prices in the country’s power spot market increased by 10.1% to P4.38 per kWh in December from the previous month’s P3.98 per kWh due to tighter supply margins in the Visayas and Mindanao.
Notably, average spot prices in the Visayas spiked by 36.6% to P7.22 per kWh, while prices in Mindanao surged by 56.7% to P7.82 per kWh.
Meanwhile, prices in Luzon declined by 15.4% to P2.98 per kWh, according to the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines.
