The purpose of the Heal
th and Safety Program is to protect the employees of JMDC STEEL FABRICATING SERVICES from exposure to work place hazards and risk of injury and to prevent accidents that may cause delay, damage or problems for everyone involved in the work place. Effective control methods such as the elimination of workplace hazards will be prioritized and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be used only when other means of protection against hazard are not adequate or feasible. It will be used in conjunction with other controls unless no other means of hazards control exist. PPE will be provided, uses, and maintained when it has been determined that its use is required to ensure the safety and health of our employees and that such use will lessen the likelihood of occupational injury and/ or illness. The JMDC Health and Safety Programs Includes:
- Responsibilities of Supervisors and Employees
- Hazards Assessment and PPE selection
- Employee Training
- Cleaning and Maintenance PPE
RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety Officer
- The Safety Officer is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of JMDC'S health and safety policies. This involves:
* conducting workplace hazards assessments to determine the presence of
hazards which necessitate the use of PPE.
* selecting the proper PPE to be purchased.
* reviewing, updating, and conducting PPE Hazard Assessments whenever
* a new project is implemented
* a particular job or procedure changes
* new equipment or process is installed
* there has been an accident
* whenever a supervisor or employee request it
* or at least every year
Maintaining records on hazards assessments. Maintaining records on PPE assignments and training. Providing training, guidance, and assistance to supervisors and employees on the proper use, care, and cleaning of approved PPE. Periodically re-evaluating the suitability of previously selected PPE. Reviewing, updating, and evaluating the overall effectiveness of PPE use, training, policies.
