As Project e-SMART came to a close, we conducted a 7-day workshop series to train our partners on hydrologic, hydrodynamic, and water quality analysis and modeling. The e-SMART Academy was participated by technical personnel from the Manila Bay Coordinating Office (MBCO) and the Laguna Lake Development Authority (Official) (LLDA), held at the LLDA Building from May 31 to June 13, 2022. This program aimed to equip the stakeholders with the skills needed to operate, maintain, and update the modeling tools and to be able to use them for scenario simulations and decision support.

Kitakits!

Hi Smarties,
Celebrating its second anniversary, Project e-SMART would like to thank all of you for your continued support for each of our posts. Over the past two years, we have shared information on the Manila Bay’s hydrology, hydrodynamics, water quality, along with other fun facts about the bay and its watershed. We also want to express our sincerest gratitude to the government agencies that helped make the Project and its accomplishments possible, to IM4ManilaBay Program, to each of Project e-SMART’s staff, and of course to our very own Project Leader, Dr. Eugene C. Herrera for guiding us all the way. We would like you to join us in the next remaining few months as we share more information about Manila Bay! Thank you and Happy Two Years, Smarties!

Sup Smarties?!
Once again, the members of Project e-SMART, together with our very own Project Leader Dr. Eugene C. Herrera, attended a platform where they can share their studies. The 𝟭𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗥𝗖𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗘) was organized by the AUN-SEED-Net Program, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the UP Diliman Environmental Engineering Program and was held virtually last January 17-18, 2022.
We would also like to congratulate specifically our Project Leader, Dr. Herrera for bagging the Best Paper Award during the conference. We thank the organizers for the great opportunity and to all participants who bravely attended and answered the questions about their studies which can be used to help solve the environmental problems in our society.

'Sup, Smarties! In today's episode, we'll talk about this guy 💩 and how a lot of them pollute the Manila Bay. F***l coliform is one of the main parameters that determine whether a water body is safe for swimming. You could read more about our research findings in each photo's caption.💡
