DOH-IIEE CAREER ADVANCEMENT PATHWAYS
Summit Ridge Hotel, Tagaytay City
IIEE - NP*EMC

The Department of Health's (DOH) Electrical Engineer has recently initiated a comprehensive program aimed at fostering career growth and professional development within the electrical engineering discipline. This initiative, known as the Career Advancement Pathways, was officially launched with the guidance and support of prominent industry leaders, including PRC-Board of Electrical Engineering Chairman Francis V. Mapile, PRC-BEE Member Jaime V. Mendoza, IIEE National President Alberto R. Herrera JR, NVPI Robert U. Mabulay and NP*EMC Chairman Edgar Bernardino from the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines (IIEE).

As part of this pathway, the program provides a structured framework designed to help Electrical Engineers achieve higher levels of professionalism and expertise. A key component involves guiding participants through the process of obtaining prestigious certifications and professional titles globally, such as the ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE) and the Professional Electrical Engineer (P*E) licenses. These credentials are highly valued in the industry and serve as a testament to an engineer’s skill, competence, and commitment to the field.

Additionally, National Professional Electrical Engineers Mentoring Committee (NP*EMC) emphasized the significance of RA 11285, that provided detailed insights into the latest technologies and best practices, such as the implementation of energy-efficient lighting systems, HVAC optimization, and the integration of renewable energy sources, including solar panels and wind turbines, into healthcare facilities. The session also covered practical strategies for conducting energy audits, identifying areas of high energy consumption, and developing effective energy management plans tailored to the unique needs of health departments and hospitals. Attendees learned how to monitor energy consumption patterns using advanced data analytics and how to leverage government incentives and funding opportunities designed to support green initiatives in healthcare settings. The training aims to equip DOH electrical engineers with the necessary knowledge, skills, and best practices to optimize energy consumption, reduce operational costs, and contribute to the country’s overall efforts in mitigating climate change through smarter energy use.
