LOOK: $2 BILLION βSILICON VALLEYβ TO RISE IN PAMPANGA!
Pampanga is set to host the Philippinesβ biggest global tech innovation hub, with a $2 billion project spanning Angeles City and Mexico. The ambitious development, dubbed the βSilicon Valley of Pampanga,β will rise on more than 100 hectares of land and aims to house over 100 global technology companies.
According to Dennis Anthony Uy, CEO of Converge ICT, the project is more than just an investmentβitβs his way of giving back to the city that raised him.
βThe Philippines has so many talented people. If you go to Silicon Valley, you will see a lot of Filipinos there. They are really good in terms of technology. What we need is to build the same ecosystem here at home,β Uy said.
Uy also confirmed to BusinessWorld that the cost of the project will reach around $2 billion, covering massive infrastructure such as buildings, road access, drainage, and advanced ICT systems.
βThe whole project, I think, is easily $2 billion. It is a very big project,β Uy said in an interview.
βI think next year we can start alreadyβ¦ we will be able to do the road access, drainage, all these things,β he added.
The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) confirmed that Uy is set to file the project application this month. PEZA Director-General Tereso O. Panga described it as a βbig-ticket investmentβ that will establish a Tech City special economic zone in Pampanga, attracting downstream tech companies and creating jobs in IT and related sectors.
Uy added that despite being a personal venture, Converge ICT will establish a data center and its headquarters inside the ecozone. He also hinted at plans to build an air-traffic controller education facility within the hub.
With its scale and vision, the Pampanga Tech City could finally put the provinceβand the Philippinesβon the global technology map.
