The project involves the design and construction of a proposed three-storey academic building within the Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) Main Campus. The building will accommodate the School of Nursing and Health Sciences, School of Teacher Education, and School of Arts & Sciences, with an estimated total floor area of approximately 10,000 square meters. The scope of work covers the full structural design development, ensuring that the building is safe, efficient, and compliant with applicable codes and standards, particularly those addressing seismic and wind loads.

For this project, the organization served as the lead structural design organization. Responsibilities included developing the structural concept, performing detailed structural analysis, and producing design outputs that ensure the buildingโ€™s strength, stability, and durability. The design addressed natural forces, including strong typhoons and potential earthquakes, given the siteโ€™s location in Region VIII, an area prone to seismic activity and extreme weather events.

The primary objective of the project is to deliver a safe, resilient, and functional three-storey academic building that will support quality education for multiple colleges within BiPSU. Expected outcomes include:

- A structurally sound facility designed for long-term use.
- A safe learning environment for students, faculty, and staff.
- Compliance with modern engineering and educational facility standards.

This project significantly contributes to the development of higher education in Biliran Province. By providing modern and resilient academic facilities, the project supports the training of future nurses, educators, scientists, and professionals who will contribute to national development. The building also serves as a catalyst for academic growth, community development, and improved access to quality education, with potential long-term impact at both local and global levels.

Previous use of non-Bentley applications for similar projects proved time-consuming and limited in handling complex structural design requirements. Bentley products provided comprehensive modeling, analysis, and detailing capabilities, enabling improved accuracy, efficiency, and confidence in the final structural design.

The Proposed Sacred Heart Seminary Audio Visual Hall is an institutional project demonstrating the application of advanced structural engineering practices to deliver a safe, resilient, and efficient facility in a disaster-prone region. The project involved the structural design of a multi-purpose audio-visual hall with a total floor area of approximately 840.65 square meters, intended to accommodate academic, spiritual, and community activities. The scope of work focused on developing a high-performance structural system that ensures safety, serviceability, and long-term durability while responding to site-specific environmental challenges.

For this project, the organization was responsible for the full structural engineering workflow, including conceptual structural planning, load assessment, detailed analysis, and preparation of design documentation. The project required addressing significant wind and seismic demands due to its location in Region VIII, an area historically affected by powerful typhoons and potential earthquake events. Structural design adhered to national codes and performance-based considerations to ensure occupant safety and structural resilience.

The primary objective was to develop a structurally optimized and resilient design that minimizes risk while maximizing constructability and material efficiency. The expected outcomes include:

- A structure capable of maintaining integrity and functionality under extreme loading conditions.
- Optimized structural member sizing and evaluation of load paths for system-wide consistency.
- Reduced potential damage, downtime, and long-term maintenance costs.

The project is significant to both the local community and the nation, supporting education, spiritual formation, and social development through resilient infrastructure. The Audio Visual Hall provides a safe and reliable venue for seminarians and community members while demonstrating the importance of structurally resilient design in regions vulnerable to natural disasters. The project aligns with national goals for disaster preparedness and sustainable infrastructure development.

Bentley structural engineering software was central to addressing the projectโ€™s technical challenges. Traditional manual calculations and spreadsheet-based tools were inefficient and limited in handling complex load combinations and structural behavior. Bentley software enabled advanced 3D structural modeling, rapid and accurate analysis, and efficient evaluation of seismic and wind loads, improving design efficiency, reducing errors, and enhancing confidence in engineering decisions.
