Soon to finish. The last equipment of the 230kV Magat BESS Substation was installed today. This equipment is a hybrid gas and air insulated switchgear that includes other components such as disconnect switches, voltage and current transformers. With only 6 terminals in air out, the equipment greatly reduces space requirements as well as structures and interconnection works. It can also be customized to multiple cbs depending on the applications demand.

This hybrid equipment is fully assembled and tested at the factory making less time for energization. Named as PASS M0 (Plug and Switch System), a product of Hitachi Energy.

Day 1 started end of July 2022, and after about five months including planning and design of foundation and structure, the construction of this Battery Energy Storage System is nearing its completion. A very challenging schedule, truly a blood pressure elevating one. Over 100 percent of Coulomb Energy’s manpower and equipment resources are used to catch up with the target dates, with loads of heavy equipment and about hundred personnels working at site including the management and engineering team. Almost all of the equipment from battery, inverters, transformers, protection and metering already arrived at site with er****on on going. Majority of the works left are only cabling and termination works.

The system has 20MW Capacity, to be connected to the Luzon grid at 230kV through an additional bay at an existing switchyard.

This battery energy storage system will soon serve as an ancillary to help our grid operator maintain a reliable electricity, addressing imbalances on supply and demand, and helping the system recover after a power system event, such as black starting.

We hope and pray for perseverance and consistent presence of minds while we work on this project up to its commissioning and energization day.

We thank everyone who are part of this project and we look forward to celebrate its completion soonest.

Today marks day one of 20MW Battery Energy Storage System and 230kV Substation Construction project, located in northern Luzon.

Safety orientation has been concluded as well as the installation of pre-fabricated foldable site office.

The timeline for this project is only 5 months making it very challenging in terms implementation, specially that the detailed engineering design of foundations and steel structures are included in the scope.

While we commit to finish this timely, we have to make sure that quality and safety is not to be compromised.

Kudos to our business development, engineering and project operations team for keeping aligned from tender, planning and at last landing at site.

We pray and look forward for the success of this project. With our teams effort, surely we can deliver on time, with the expected quality.

On June 25th 2022, the last pole for 69kV Lima Connection Line in Lipa Batangas was installed. In few days time, the stringing of this transmission line will be done, bringing this project into its conclusion. Sooner, our team will be packing up and moving towards north making its way to new missions.

While we are glad finishing this one, we cannot just leave the memories behind the success of this and other previous projects. The efforts, hardships, and excellence put together by different people working as one to meet a common objective cannot be more valued. More over, for keeping resilient in the most trying times during the entire construction period of all projects that lasted for almost 4 years.

To the pillars of this project team Mark Villanueva Baniqued, Gebrielle Soriano, Cecilia Espino Santiago and our late PM Marlon Punzalan, to our partners Aboitiz Construction and Lima Enerzone, we cannot thank you enough.

We may part, but the lessons and memories will be forever in our hearts. Sending hugs to everyone!

Energization Day.

After several months of construction, this project in southern Luzon is finally nearing its completion.

Coulomb Energy would like to express gratitude to the Project Operations, Engineering and Admin team for the perseverance. Moreover, to our client for giving the opportunity and friends in the industry for the utmost support.

As we are on the final stage of tests, we lift this achievement to Almighty being the source of everything. May we be guided throughout, and celebrate a successful turnover with all the people who has been part of this.

Peace at last (for a while at least). After all the struggles with urgency and design issues, these 14 self supporting structures with 2 bundles of drake, tapped into 115kV primary of a 20MVA substation was finally energized.

A high resolution thermal camera was used to check the integrity of insulators and connections, following the energization of transformer.

Praise be to the perseverance of the construction team, to the Lord for the blessing and safety, with zero incident all troughout the project duration.

The siblings met at last. The percussion drill rig arrived at San Jose Batangas yard getting ready to be deployed to Marinduque for the construction of bridge bored piles. The machine is capable of drilling up to 3M diameter, 40M deep using solid and hollow hammer. Tremi pipes, welding machines, water and slurry pumps were standard accessories. This rig is engine driven, thus no need for large generator to be deployed at site. The rig can be used for brige, transmission pole and tower construction.

For a while, the rig will enjoy its moment with its big brother.

Yesterday, all office and majority of project staff undergone the rapid test. The test were done at Coulomb Energy warehouse to observe social distancing. It was the company’s initiative to get everyone tested including the top executives in order to ensure that all people in the workspaces are free from the disease. Furthermore, to take care and do proper action if someone has contacted the virus. Thanks be to the team for the cooperation. Let us all work as one and protect ourselves as one, as we embrace to the so called new normal.
