I hope government offices, as well as private companies, take time to revisit their purchasing and payment policies.
Behind every small business is someone trying to make things work. We have employees to take care of, suppliers to pay, bills to settle, and daily operating expenses to keep the business running.
At Alfasteel, whenever we take on a project, we do our best to deliver what our clients need. We adjust, we make time, we show up, and we do our best to serve them well. We understand that our clients have their own needs and deadlines, and we do our part to meet them.
But why does it become so difficult when it’s our turn to ask for payment?
We make it a point to pay our suppliers on time because we know that behind every invoice is another business, another family, and employees who are depending on that payment. We know what it feels like to have obligations waiting.
And honestly, we hope the same consideration can be given to small businesses like ours.
We understand that delays and unforeseen circumstances happen, especially during times like these. We’re not asking for special treatment. We’re simply asking for communication, honesty, and consideration.
If payment will be delayed, please tell us. Give us an update. Don’t leave us constantly following up, waiting, and wondering when we can expect what we have rightfully earned.
A small business may be smaller in size, but our responsibilities are just as real.
Let’s not forget that behind every business transaction are people, families, and livelihoods.
Let’s learn to be more considerate of one another. Fair business should work both ways.
