Project TALA officially concluded its Implementation Phase on June 1, marked by a meaningful Closing Ceremony celebrating the dedication and contributions of all participants, partners, and stakeholders.

Appreciation and Recognition were awarded as a testament to the collective effort and commitment that made this phase a success. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who played a vital role in bringing the project's goals to fruition.

As we celebrate this milestone, we also look ahead to the next chapter. Project TALA now enters its Post-Implementation Phase, where we will continue to monitor progress, sustain outcomes, and strengthen the impact of our initiatives within the community.

This is not the end of the journey, it is the beginning of continued growth, learning, and transformation.

𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗔𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗧 🌱

Last May 29, 2026, Project TALA participants took a significant step in their leadership and research journey as they presented their 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘀 before a distinguished panel of evaluators.

The panel was chaired by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗹 𝗝𝗼𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗼𝘀, Assistant Professorial Lecturer at De La Salle University (DLSU) and Assistant Professor at Rizal Technological University (RTU), with 𝗠𝘀. 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼, Officer-in-Charge of the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) of Valenzuela City, and 𝗠𝘀. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗹 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗿𝗮, Librarian of the Valenzuela City Library, serving as panel members. Their valuable insights, constructive feedback, and expertise provided guidance in refining the participants' proposed initiatives.

The two project proposals showcased innovative and research-driven approaches to addressing pressing community and societal challenges. Both projects aim to provide sustainable solutions and contribute to the advancement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reflecting the participants' commitment to creating positive and lasting impact.

This milestone highlights not only the participants' hard work, critical thinking, and collaboration, but also their passion for transforming ideas into meaningful action for the betterment of their communities.

Congratulations to all Project TALA participants for successfully presenting their proposals. We look forward to seeing these promising ideas evolve into impactful initiatives that will help shape a more sustainable and empowered future.

Last Tuesday, participants explored the many 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘳 𝘖𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘈𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘚𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 through insightful talks from our guest speakers. Mr. Lordnico Mendoza, a resident astronomer and astrophogtagrapher at DOST-PAGASA, shared his professional experiences and perspectives in the field. While Mr. Ryan Andrew Doña, an astronomy student majoring in astrophysics at Rizal Technological University (RTU), inspired participants by sharing his journey and experiences from a student’s perspective.

The session concluded with an interactive panel discussion and workshop, where participants had the opportunity to ask questions, learn more about the speakers’ career journeys, and gain valuable insights into pursuing a future in astronomy and space science.

Last Monday, Project TALA successfully held its 11th session entitled “𝘊𝘰𝘴𝘮𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺: 𝘏𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦” led by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗹 𝗝𝗼𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗼𝘀, Assistant Professorial Lecturer at De La Salle University (DLSU) and Assistant Professor at Rizal Technological University (RTU). 🌌

The lecture explored topics such as the Big Bang Theory, cosmic inflation, dark matter, dark energy, and the possible fate of the universe, including the Big Crunch, Big Rip, and Big Freeze. 🌠

Students also enjoyed interactive workshops demonstrating the expansion of the universe using balloons and galaxy stickers, along with a fun color-by-number activity revealing a radio-wave view of the sky. 🎈

The session was both informative and engaging, inspiring participants to further explore the mysteries of the cosmos.

𝗗𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗹 𝗝𝗼𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗼𝘀, Assistant Professorial Lecturer at De La Salle University (DLSU) and Assistant Professor at Rizal Technological University (RTU), on the wonders of 𝘎𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘹𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦’𝘴 𝘓𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘦-𝘚𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘦 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦. 🌌

Last Wednesday, Session 9 took us far beyond our own cosmic neighborhood as we explored the incredible 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥𝘴 𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘚𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮, exoplanets. 🪐

Led by 𝗠𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗔𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼, an emerging science communicator and astrophysics major from Rizal Technological University (RTU), the lecture journeyed through the history of exoplanet discoveries, the different types of planets found across the universe, the essential ingredients that could support life, and the fascinating methods astronomers use to detect these distant worlds. From Hot Jupiters to potentially habitable planets, we uncovered just how diverse and mysterious the universe truly is.

The workshop brought the science to life through a hands-on demonstration of the transit method, where students created their own DIY light curve data to visualize how an exoplanet affects a star’s brightness as it passes in front of it. Watching starlight dip, even through a simulation, gave everyone a glimpse into how astronomers discover planets light-years away.

Another session filled with curiosity, discovery, and a deeper appreciation of the vast universe waiting to be explored. 🚀
