Even when I'm away on-site, the shop is still active. All I have to do is send a design and tell my team what techniques to apply and let them do what they do best. That level of sync is only achieved after working on projects and product research and development. The biggest advantage is that more than just design, I craft with them. I speak the language, I do the work. And to give credit where it's due, the artisan, Nong Welvin who made this piece was also one of my mentors when I was an apprentice. 10 years on and we're still creating together.
