Job Summary:
The Civil Works/Construction Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for preparing final reports on quantities of completed residential projects. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills to review cost estimates, verify actual quantities and costs of materials, and provide a comprehensive assessment of project costs based on as-built information. The Quantity Surveyor will work closely with project teams, contractors, and clients to ensure accurate reporting and cost control.
Responsibilities:
1. Review and analyze cost estimates for residential projects to ensure accuracy and completeness.
2. Verify and reconcile actual quantities and costs of materials, labor, and equipment used in construction projects.
3. Collaborate with project teams to gather as-built information, including changes and variations from the original plans and specifications.
4. Evaluate the impact of changes and variations on project costs and provide recommendations to management.
5. Prepare and maintain records of quantities, costs, and variations related to each project.
6. Conduct regular site inspections to verify quantities and document any changes that may affect project costs.
7. Collaborate with contractors and suppliers to obtain information on material costs, availability, and alternative options.
8. Monitor and control project costs to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
9. Prepare final reports on quantities and project costs, including detailed breakdowns and explanations for any discrepancies.
10. Assist in the preparation of tender documents and cost estimates for new projects.
11. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to quantity surveying in civil works/construction projects.
12. Collaborate with other team members to continuously improve processes and enhance productivity.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in Architectural or Civil Engineering with at least 02 years work experience, in lieu of university degree a related field diploma with additional years of work experience can be considered.
2. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, specifically in residential projects.
3. Strong knowledge of quantity surveying principles, techniques, and practices.
4. Proficient in using quantity surveying software and other relevant tools.
5. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
6. Sound understanding of construction methods, materials, and processes.
7. Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with project teams, contractors, and clients.
9. Ability to assess and manage risks related to quantity surveying in civil works/construction projects.
10. Proven ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
11. Professional certification (e.g., MRICS, PQS) is preferred but not required.
