An important meeting was held at Government College of Technology Chiniot regarding the promotion of the furniture industry and the introduction of new technical courses.
The meeting was chaired by the Founding President Mr. Danish Naeem Fakhri, while the TEVTA delegation was led by Director R&D Mr. Khurram Shafiq. The delegation also included Deputy Director R&D Ms. Ayesha Iqbal, Deputy Director Mr. Abid Hussain, Ms. Aneela Bashir and other officials.
Addressing the meeting, former Senior Vice President Mr. Malik Shehbaz stated that there is a gap of nearly *$7 billion in the global furniture market*, but due to the shortage of skilled workforce, Chiniot is not fully benefiting from this opportunity. He emphasized that if youth are trained according to modern industry requirements, Chiniot can secure a prominent place in the international market.
Executive Member Mr. Aziz-ur-Rehman presented detailed proposals including the introduction of *CNC Machine Operator programs, polishing and paint finishing courses, AutoCAD training for furniture design, export process training, digital marketing for furniture products, and short-term woodworking courses* to equip youth with modern skills and strengthen the industry.
Joint Secretary Furniture Association Mr. Rana Nausheer Ahmed proposed including wood identification and climate-specific wood usage for different countries in the curriculum to ensure export-quality furniture standards. Former Executive Member Mr. Malik Umar Daraz and Mr. Rizwan (London Furniture) also highlighted the importance of adapting Chiniot’s traditional craftsmanship to modern requirements and teaching advanced carving techniques to young artisans.
Secretary General of Chiniot Chamber of Commerce & Industry Mr. Hafiz Ammar and local industrialists also attended the meeting.
At the conclusion, Founding President Mr. Danish Naeem Fakhri emphasized the importance of increasing furniture exports and equipping youth with modern skills. TEVTA Director R&D Mr. Khurram Shafiq assured that practical steps will be taken to introduce industry-relevant courses at Government College of Technology Chiniot. The meeting was considered a significant step towards modernizing Chiniot’s furniture industry.
گورنمنٹ کالج آف ٹیکنالوجی چنیوٹ میں فرنیچر انڈسٹری کے فروغ اور نئے تکنیکی کورسز کے اجراء کے حوالے سے ایک اہم اجلاس منعقد ہوا۔
اجلاس کی صدارت بانی صدر محترم دانش نعیم فخری نے کی جبکہ TEVTA کے وفد کی قیادت ڈائریکٹر آر اینڈ ڈی محترم خرم شفیق نے کی۔ وفد میں ڈپٹی ڈائریکٹر آر اینڈ ڈی محترمہ عائشہ اقبال، ڈپٹی ڈائریکٹر محترم عابد حسین اور محترمہ انیلہ بشیر سمیت دیگر افسران شامل تھے۔
اجلاس سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے سابق سینئر نائب صدر محترم ملک شہباز نے کہا کہ عالمی سطح پر تقریباً 7 ارب ڈالر کی فرنیچر مارکیٹ میں نمایاں خلا موجود ہے، تاہم تربیت یافتہ افرادی قوت کی کمی کے باعث چنیوٹ اس موقع سے بھرپور فائدہ نہیں اٹھا پا رہا۔ انہوں نے زور دیا کہ اگر نوجوانوں کو جدید تقاضوں کے مطابق تربیت دی جائے تو چنیوٹ عالمی منڈی میں نمایاں مقام حاصل کر سکتا ہے۔
ایگزیکٹو ممبر محترم عزیز الرحمٰن نے CNC مشین آپریٹر پروگرام، پالش اور پینٹ کے باقاعدہ کورسز، فرنیچر ڈیزائن کے لیے آٹوکیڈ کی تربیت، ایکسپورٹ پراسیس کی عملی ٹریننگ، ڈیجیٹل مارکیٹنگ اور مختصر مدت کے ووڈ ورکنگ کورسز متعارف کرانے کی تجاویز پیش کیں تاکہ نوجوان جدید مہارتیں حاصل کر سکیں اور صنعت کو عالمی معیار کے مطابق ترقی دی جا سکے۔
جوائنٹ سیکرٹری فرنیچر ایسوسی ایشن محترم رانا نوشیر احمد نے لکڑی کی اقسام کی پہچان اور مختلف ممالک کے موسمی حالات کے مطابق لکڑی کے استعمال کو نصاب کا حصہ بنانے کی تجویز دی۔ اس موقع پر سابق ایگزیکٹو ممبر محترم ملک عمر دراز اور محترم رضوان (لندن فرنیچر والے) نے بھی روایتی چنیوٹ کاریگری کو جدید تقاضوں سے ہم آہنگ کرنے اور نوجوانوں کو جدید کارونگ ٹیکنیکس سکھانے پر زور دیا۔
اجلاس میں چنیوٹ چیمبر آف کامرس اینڈ انڈسٹری کے سیکرٹری جنرل محترم حافظ عمار اور مقامی صنعتکاروں نے بھی شرکت کی۔
اجلاس کے اختتام پر بانی صدر محترم دانش نعیم فخری نے فرنیچر ایکسپورٹ میں اضافے اور نوجوانوں کو جدید ہنر سے آراستہ کرنے کی ضرورت پر زور دیا، جبکہ TEVTA کے ڈائریکٹر آر اینڈ ڈی محترم خرم شفیق نے یقین دہانی کرائی کہ صنعت کی ضروریات کے مطابق گورنمنٹ کالج آف ٹیکنالوجی چنیوٹ میں نئے کورسز متعارف کرانے کے لیے عملی اقدامات کیے جائیں گے۔ یہ اجلاس چنیوٹ کی فرنیچر انڈسٹری کو جدید بنیادوں پر استوار کرنے کی جانب ایک اہم پیش رفت قرار دیا جا رہا ہے۔
