1. Determine loads and moments
-Calculate the Dead-load, live-load.
- Calculate the load combination
-Calculate Factored BM (Mu) +factored SF (Vu)
2. Preliminary Sizing
-Assume beam depth (h) = L/10 ~ L/18
- Assume beam width (b) = 0.5h ~ 0.67h
3. Flexural design
Solve Mu ¢ Vc design stirrups Vs = Vu /¢ - Vc
- Select the stirrups size / spacing
Vs = As × fy x d/ S

5. Detailing
-Provide the reinforcement cover ( 1.5 " - indoor beam)
-Check deflection and crack control
( bar spacing < 15" for serviceability)
