Pakistan is set to strengthen its defence capabilities through a trilateral agreement with Türkiye and Kazakhstan, focusing on the acquisition of Turkish-designed armored vehicles manufactured in Kazakhstan.
The deal, reportedly signed during the 2026 visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, includes advanced platforms such as Aibar 4×4 and Taimas 8×8 vehicles, based on designs by Turkish defence company Otokar.
Valued between $300 million and $600 million, the agreement covers not only procurement but also training, maintenance, and long-term technical support, ensuring operational effectiveness.
Officials say these vehicles are expected to enhance mobility, troop protection, and reconnaissance capabilities, particularly in challenging terrains such as border regions. The platforms are designed to offer protection against mines and improvised expl0sive devices (IEDs) while supporting counter-insurgency operations.
The move reflects Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to modernize its defence infrastructure and strengthen strategic partnerships in the region.
