Leading Without Permission!

It may sound rebellious but it’s more about,

– Taking responsibility before it’s assigned
– Solving problems before they escalate
– Speaking up even when you’re the youngest in the room
– Building what doesn’t yet exist

As part of the celebrations, I will be sharing some personal stories with fellows and very excited to learn more from theirs.

How do we maintain stability in a world defined by disruption?

Last week at , we had the privilege of moderating a session for the 6th International Workshop for Leadership and Stability.

We dove deep into the complexities of leadership in an era of constant evolution. The true impact of these conversations lies in the intersections: how climate finance impacts national security, how digital social tools or redefine , and how legal frameworks must evolve to keep pace with tech disruption.

The conversation was a masterclass in cross-sectoral resilience, featuring:

Ms. Kanwal Cheema: CEO AI Skillbridge , which she describes as Pakistan's first fully funded physical AI bootcamp designed to empower youth with modern tech skills.

Dr. Arben Ramkaj: For his critical perspectives on the role of interfaith dialogue in global security.

Ms. Kashmala Kakakhel: For her expertise in navigating international climate finance to protect the interests of developing nations.

Mr. Ahmer Bilal Soofi: For his legal brilliance and vast experience in human rights and international law.

The core takeaway: is not something to fear, but something to prepare for. In an age of rapid shift, our responsibility as leaders is to anticipate change and build institutional resilience. We must position the state as an active contributor to the global digital and policy future, rather than merely a consumer of it.

When we bridge the gap between technology, policy, and security, we create the stability necessary for long-term growth.

Grateful to the leadership at National Defence University Islamabad for bringing such a strong panel of experts and to the speakers for their insights.

Last Friday at National Incubation Center for Aerospace Technologies, our Founder Sidra Jalil was part of a jury panel and judged the startup pitches. Overall the pitches were well-structured, time-bound and clearly articulated.

A quick snapshot of the ideas pitched:

• – A locally built payment gateway addressing high fees and friction in cross-border payments for and businesses.

• Qanoon – A legal-tech platform connecting clients with verified lawyers, enhanced by AI-powered research and case management.

• Pak Stable – A rupee-pegged aimed at enabling secure, low-cost digital transactions and financial inclusion.

• – An AI-based Shariah-compliant content moderation platform for digital and live media.

• – A neural forensic solution focused on detection and digital content authenticity.

• – An enterprise security intelligence platform offering compliance and supply chain risk monitoring.

Kudos to the NICAT team for the smart coordination, behind the effort, clear jury briefings(prior to the session), and a smooth flow of the session. The evaluation criteria were transparent and applied fairly across all teams and a strong panel of jury including a psychologist in each panel.

It’s very encouraging to see such depth of innovation emerging from the ecosystem and kudos to the great team at NICAT for all the great work lead behind the scenes
