September 6th is celebrated as Pakistan Defense Day to commemorate the bravery and sacrifices of the Pakistani armed forces during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965.

On this day in 1965, Indian forces crossed the international border into Pakistan, but the Pakistani military responded with valor and repelled the attack. The war lasted for 17 days, resulting in the signing of the Tashkent Agreement on January 10, 1966.

Pakistan Defense Day is observed to:

2. Pay tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of the Pakistani armed forces.
