International Building Safety Day (IBSD) – May 22, 2026

International Building Safety Day reminds us that safe buildings are not merely structures of concrete and steel—they are foundations of human security, resilience, and sustainable progress. As the world observes this year’s theme, “Built to Last,” we are reminded that resilient infrastructure and effective safety systems are essential for protecting lives and shaping prosperous societies.

In an era marked by climate change, seismic risks, rapid urbanization, and evolving infrastructure demands, building safety is a global responsibility. Since people spend most of their lives indoors, every structure must uphold the highest standards of safety, sustainability, and quality.

The Pakistan Engineering Council remains committed to advancing internationally aligned building regulations and modern technical codes that strengthen resilience, environmental stewardship, and occupational safety.

On this important occasion, I urge engineers, regulators, contractors, consultants, and all stakeholders to champion innovation, responsibility, and professional excellence—so our cities and communities are truly “Built to Last” for generations.

Happy International Building Safety Day 2026

Message from Chairman PEC Engr. Waseem Nazir on the First Anniversary of Marqa-e-Haq – Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos

On the first anniversary of Marqa-e-Haq – Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) proudly honors the courage, professionalism, and unwavering resolve of Pakistan’s Armed Forces in defending the nation’s sovereignty in May 2025. This historic operation stands as a defining moment in Pakistan’s military history.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the strategic command of Field Marshal Hafiz Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan demonstrated national unity, operational excellence, and an unshakable commitment to its defense. Special appreciation is extended to Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and the brave personnel of the Pakistan Air Force, Army, and Navy. The valor of the Shaheens of the Air Force has earned admiration both nationally and internationally.
This remarkable achievement reflects the tireless contributions of Pakistani engineers and scientists. Our defense capabilities, precision systems, cyber strength, and indigenous technologies are a testament to their dedication and patriotism.
As engineers, we take immense pride in our role in strengthening national security, advancing technological innovation, and promoting self-reliance. Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos has reinforced the critical importance of research, innovation, and resilience in safeguarding our homeland.
On this solemn occasion, we pay tribute to our martyrs and salute the ghazis whose bravery continues to elevate Pakistan’s honor. Their sacrifices will inspire generations to come, and may Allah continue to bless Pakistan with strength, unity, peace, and prosperity.
