International Building Safety Day (IBSD) – May 22, 2026
International Building Safety Day reminds us that safe buildings are not merely structures of concrete and steel—they are foundations of human security, resilience, and sustainable progress. As the world observes this year’s theme, “Built to Last,” we are reminded that resilient infrastructure and effective safety systems are essential for protecting lives and shaping prosperous societies.
In an era marked by climate change, seismic risks, rapid urbanization, and evolving infrastructure demands, building safety is a global responsibility. Since people spend most of their lives indoors, every structure must uphold the highest standards of safety, sustainability, and quality.
The Pakistan Engineering Council remains committed to advancing internationally aligned building regulations and modern technical codes that strengthen resilience, environmental stewardship, and occupational safety.
On this important occasion, I urge engineers, regulators, contractors, consultants, and all stakeholders to champion innovation, responsibility, and professional excellence—so our cities and communities are truly “Built to Last” for generations.
Happy International Building Safety Day 2026
