Chairman Mr Faisal Arshad Sheikh noted existing potential, yet to be fully explored, for trade and investment between the UAE and Pakistan and business opportunities between the members of Dubai Chamber and PHMA and asserted upon the need to start coordination and business meetings in this regard. Mutual discussion envisioned signing of MOU between PHMA & Dubai Chamber to formalize and institutionalize business support activities and facilitation to members of both organizations.
A PHMA-Dubai Chamber business roundtable is planned to be held shortly to tap the existing and new business opportunities in Value-Added Apparel & Textiles and allied sectors. Meeting also focused on exchange of business, investment and trade information, exhibitions with stakeholder business entities of UAE as well as global businesses and brands having offices in Dubai/UAE, under the aegis of Dubai Chamber International & PHMA.

During the meeting, PHMA strongly highlighted the major issues being faced by the value-added textile sector and submitted detailed proposals/recommendations to the Federal Government for the upcoming Federal Budget 2026-27, Textile Export Policy, Export Competitiveness, Ease of Doing Business, and Industrial Revival of Pakistan.
The key proposals submitted by PHMA include:
โ€ข Restoration of Fixed/Final Tax Regime (FTR) for exporters with 1% turnover tax and abolition of Super Tax on exports.
โ€ข Restoration of Export Facilitation Scheme (EFS) to its original framework.

Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMA), recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Resource Edge, a leading business consulting company working in Pakistan and internationally with a strong track record in the area of SME development across textile, apparel and other diverse sectors, to support the PHMA member companies across the country in their initiatives for business growth, economic sustainability and export readiness.
The MOU was signed by Mr. Faisal Arshad Shaikh, Chairman PHMA and Mr. Afzal Shahabuddin, Managing Director Resource Edge.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Javed Bilwani, Chief Coordinator PHMA and Chairman Pakistan Apparel Forum, highlighted the potential of the PHMA member organizations in building the countryโ€™s exports, He said that PHMA is committed to support its members realize their potential by helping them through capability development initiatives.
