Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMA), recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Resource Edge, a leading business consulting company working in Pakistan and internationally with a strong track record in the area of SME development across textile, apparel and other diverse sectors, to support the PHMA member companies across the country in their initiatives for business growth, economic sustainability and export readiness.
The MOU was signed by Mr. Faisal Arshad Shaikh, Chairman PHMA and Mr. Afzal Shahabuddin, Managing Director Resource Edge.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Javed Bilwani, Chief Coordinator PHMA and Chairman Pakistan Apparel Forum, highlighted the potential of the PHMA member organizations in building the country’s exports, He said that PHMA is committed to support its members realize their potential by helping them through capability development initiatives.

Federal Minister for Education Mr. Khalid Maqbool Siddique chaired a meeting with PHMA and other associations engaged in NAVTTC INDUSTRIAL-LED TRAINING PROGRAM under Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Program. Executive Director NAVTTC Mr. Muhammad Aamir Jan along with senior officials of national commission also participated in the meeting.

𝐏𝐇𝐌𝐀 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐤𝐡, delivered a presentation on the pilot phase of the PHMA–NAVTTC Industry-Led Program, highlighting its achievements and presenting proposals for the second phase. The Federal Minister and Executive Director NAVTTC appreciated the role of PHMA and its institutes in developing youth skills and providing employment opportunities upon the successful completion of training programs.

Mr. Faisal Arshad Sheikh apprised the participants that, in alignment with the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for export-led growth and industrial development, PHMA Institutes, in collaboration with NAVTTC and PHMA member industries in Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, and Sialkot, are implementing an Industry-Led and Export-Oriented Skills Development Program. PHMA has signed a three-year MoU with NAVTTC to support this initiative. Under this program, training is being provided at PHMA institutes and member factories, with a strong focus on On-Job Training (OJT) and employment opportunities. Phase 1: Conducted across 4 institutes and 4 industry partners in Karachi, Lahore, and Faisalabad. Successfully trained 260 youth, achieving over 60% employment. Phase 2: Planned with 5 institutes and 8 industry partners across the same cities. Proposal submitted to NAVTTC to train 1,160 youth. Planned trainings under MOU in 3-years to train 3,000 youth target for training and employment.

Chairman Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PHMA), 𝐌𝐫. 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐤𝐡, has strongly urged the concerned authorities to establish dedicated fast-track immigration counters for exporters to facilitate smooth and hassle-free international travel.

The issue was formally raised during a meeting with the relevant officials, where challenges faced by exporters at airports were discussed in detail. The Chairman emphasized that exporters frequently travel abroad to secure orders, explore new markets, and strengthen trade relations, and unnecessary delays at immigration counters negatively impact business efficiency.

PHMA stressed that providing priority facilitation to exporters will enhance ease of doing business, support trade growth, and contribute positively towards Pakistan’s export performance.
