CASE STUDY 2:
----------------
- Location: Residence in Phase 1, DHA Lahore.
- System: 6kW On-Grid, with Net Metering
- Observation: System was producing less than capacity. Feb to May output was exactly the same but Jun production improved significantly
- Conclusion: The output lines for Feb-May period seem to be truncated and forcibly cutoff at around 230 units. This could probably be caused by a longer shadow cast by lower sun trajectory, during winter to early summer
- Site Visit: PV modules were Floor mounted on roof, surrounded by a 5ft high parapet wall. The gap between wall and the first row of PV modules was only 4ft.
During winter and early summer, first row of PV modules were under the shadow of the wall and giving no production. In summer, the sun was riding higher and the shadow effect was minimal
- Remedial Action: Due to space limitations, PV modules could not be pushed away from the wall.
An elevated structure was fabricated whose lowest point was above the parapet wall. PV modules got full sunlight for the Sun Hours at all times.
System performance improved significantly in the next winters & system output matched the designed values
