ice (GMP)The Vaccine Manufacturing facility of Ittehad Life Sciences will be Pakistan’s first state of the art BSL-III animal vaccine manufacturing facility. The project is in collaboration with the leading biotechnology universities of Pakistan, and this Academia-Industry relationship, starting with a state of the art BSL-III plant, will culminate into a biotech wing inside a technology park that Ittehad Chemicals is developing. This Technology Park is located on 106 acres on the main Grand Turk Road, a 3 to 4 lane highway as of today that has linked the eastern and western regions of the Indian subcontinent for over a thousand years, running from Chittagong, Bangladesh through to Howrah, West Bengal in India, across north India into Peshawar (in present day Pakistan), up to Kabul, Afghanistan. The technology Park is located 25 min from Lahore, the second largest city of Pakistan. Envisaged as a pioneer BSL-III vaccine manufacturing facility in the country, the venture is positioned to grow and satisfy today’s need and future opportunities in the bio-pharmaceuticals and agricultural industry. The vaccine manufacturing facility is being designed to meet international standards of certified manufacturing facilities. These manufacturing procedural codes will be strictly adhered to and as such all processed will be carried out under stringent conditions of sterility to ensure the purity of the products. The quality assurance practices of validation, monitoring and documentation will be carried out at every stage of manufacture from the receiving of raw materials through to the release of goods for sale. The seed materials for the vaccine are of the highest quality available with strict quality control standards to ensure consistency of performance for all vaccine batches. The virus seed lot is at present being rigorously tested for purity, safety and efficacy at pilot plants located within universities before mobilizing industrial scale manufacturing. The substrates used for virus growth are derived from animals, which are certified specific pathogen free (SPF). This provides assurance that the vaccine produced from these materials is free from any extraneous disease producing organism. In addition all bulk virus material will be rigorously tested for sterility and virus titer before incorporation into a vaccine. Further, to support commercialization efforts, Ittehad Life Sciences has been working with universities for over two years to ensure highly skilled and dedicated human resource availability for the envisaged projects.
