How Dual-Mode PCS Enables Seamless Power Transition in BESS Systems
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are often misunderstood as simple containers filled with lithium-ion batteries. In reality, the intelligence of a BESS lies in its Power Conversion System (PCS) and the control architecture behind it. One of the most powerful capabilities of modern BESS is Dual PCS Operating Modes.
These systems can operate in:

Different problems require different solutions.

The Static Synchronous Condenser (E-STATCOM) is one of the Sieyuan grid-forming series equipments which is based on MMC topology, with supercapacitors on the DC side . With the growing pe*******on of the new energy integrated into the new-type power system, such as high proportion of Renewable Energy and high proportion of Inverter-Based Resources (IBRs), it leads to three major challenges:
➢ Voltage Instability
➢ Frequency Instability
➢ Wideband Oscillations
E-STATCOM provides reactive power support and inertia support functions for the power grid, which can effectively solve the power quality problems faced in the new-type power systems.With the self-developed advanced grid-forming control algorithm, the E-STATCOM can perfectly cover all the functions of traditional rotating Synchronous Condenser , such as faster transient response, more controllable and stable voltage and frequency regulation, smarter and more economic.
