Orthopedic recovery is not always about adding something artificial. Sometimes, it starts with what the body already has.

This is the idea behind regenerative medicine in orthopedics, also known as orthobiologics.

🩸 These therapies use tissues such as blood, bone marrow, or adipose tissue, usually collected from the same patient who receives the treatment.

After collection, these tissues are processed and concentrated to obtain solutions such as PRP (platelet-rich plasma), BMAC (bone marrow aspirate concentrate), or adipose tissue-based products.

Osteoarthritis pain is not only about cartilage wear.

In osteoarthritis, pain does not usually come directly from cartilage. Cartilage itself has no pain nerves.

As cartilage loses its protective function, more stress is transferred to the bone beneath the joint surface. This may lead to bone remodelling, bone marrow lesions, and pain-related changes.

At the same time, the joint lining (synovium) can become inflamed. The joint may produce more fluid, become swollen, and feel more sensitive during movement or pressure.

🔥 Bone stress, swelling, inflammation, and pain-signalling pathways can all contribute to osteoarthritis pain. Over time, these nerves may become more reactive, making even everyday movement uncomfortable.

That is why osteoarthritis pain is not simply “cartilage wear.” It is often the result of bone changes, joint inflammation, swelling, and sensitised pain pathways working together*.

🩺 There is currently no cure that reverses osteoarthritis. Treatment focuses on reducing symptoms, maintaining joint function and improving quality of life. Available management options should always be selected based on an individual clinical assessment and current medical guidelines.
