Moonwalks, even these simulated, are vast topics. How to prepare before getting off the safe airlock? You can find out from Analog Workshops’ Module 3: Simulation, Immersion and EVA Operations.

This module introduces participants to the operational side of analog missions by examining how realistic simulation and immersion support both research and astronaut training. Participants explore the principles of immersive mission design, environmental simulation, operational realism, and human behavior studies within analog environments 🧑‍🚀

Building on this theoretical foundation, participants complete comprehensive Extravehicular Activity (EVA) training, including suit familiarization, operational procedures, safety protocols, communication, EVA simulation planning, and emergency response. Multiple practical EVA simulations allow participants to progressively develop operational skills, teamwork, scientific task ex*****on, and mission discipline within a realistic analog environment 🌕

How are we organising our missions? You can learn that during the Analog Workshop in October!

Module 2: Mission Design, Crew Operations and Safety focuses on how analog missions are designed, planned, and safely executed. Participants learn the principles of mission architecture, including mission planning, operational procedures, crew organization, communication protocols, scheduling, resource management, and mission documentation 📄

The module also introduces the role of the analog astronaut, discussing required competencies, career pathways, professional conduct, teamwork, leadership, and psychological resilience in isolated environments 🧑‍🚀

Safety is presented as a core component of mission success. Participants examine risk assessment, emergency preparedness, habitat safety systems, emergency procedures, medical response, and crew responsibilities through practical examples based on LunAres operations.

Are you curious about what we planned for the Analog Workshop? Let’s dive into Module 1: Introduction to Analog Missions and Habitats 👨‍🚀

This module provides participants with the fundamental knowledge required to understand the purpose and value of analog missions as preparation for human space exploration. Participants are introduced to the concept of analog missions, their role in research, astronaut training, technology validation, and operational testing. The module also explores the diversity of analog habitats around the world, comparing their architectural concepts, mission objectives, and research capabilities 🔬

Using LunAres as a case study, participants become familiar with the infrastructure of a professional analog habitat, including habitat systems, laboratories, crew living spaces, Mission Control integration, technical facilities, and operational logistics. The module concludes with an introduction to the daily functioning of an analog habitat and its contribution to future Lunar and Martian exploration 🌕

The hands-on analog mission simulations workshop at LunAres Research Station will allow you to learn how analog astronauts prepare for the mission and how LunAres Mission Control and Research Coordinators organize the simulation and analog research.

During the workshops, the Mission Control Team will tell you about preparation for analog missions, mission architecture, research possibilities, and many more topics! It’s a great opportunity to gain knowledge from specialists, visit our habitat, and meet some researchers connected with LunAres 🌕

Analog missions are a unique combination of simulated scenarios led by experienced Mission Control and various scientific studies carried out by external research teams.
