This aboveground tank was fabricated in carbon steel and includes a 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝟏𝟏𝟎% 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲, helping prevent spills from the primary vessel and providing an added layer of environmental protection. 🛡️🌱

The tank was fabricated following 𝐔𝐋-𝟏𝟒𝟐 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 and includes key accessories such as a service catwalk, access ladder, safety railings, vents, manhole, inspection ports, lifting lugs, grounding lug, and steel runways to allow inspection under the d**e. 🔩🧰

Proud to share the progress of our 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝟏𝟐𝟕,𝟎𝟎𝟎-𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐚𝐧𝐤 #𝟐 project for Genera PR at the Aguirre Combined Cycle Plant in Salinas, Puerto Rico.

In a combined cycle power generation plant, condensate water is an essential part of the steam cycle. After steam is used to generate power, it is cooled and converted back into water so it can be stored, treated, and reused in the system. A reliable condensate water tank is therefore critical to the plant’s efficiency, continuity, and long-term operation.

This project includes the complete replacement of the existing tank system, consisting of:

🔸 Demolition of the old condensate water tank
🔸 Demolition of the existing concrete foundation
🔸 Construction of a new concrete base designed to comply with current building code requirements and resist the design loads of the new tank
🔸 Fabrication and field er****on of a new 26’-0” diameter x 32’-0” high welded steel tank
🔸 Design and fabrication in accordance with the latest adopted edition of API 650

All work is being executed with strict attention to structural integrity, durability, safety, and long-term corrosion protection, ensuring the new tank is properly suited for the demanding conditions of a power generation environment.

These new tanks replace two existing tanks of the same size and configuration, providing Genera PR with a renewed and reliable wastewater storage system designed to support long-term operation and maintenance requirements.

As part of the project, the interior surfaces of both tanks were protected with one (1) coat of 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐚-𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞® 𝟑𝟐𝟓 by Sherwin-Williams, a high-performance novolac epoxy lining specifically engineered for severe service environments. Nova-Plate 325 provides excellent resistance to wastewater, chemicals, and corrosive contaminants while delivering outstanding abrasion resistance and long-term protection of the steel substrate, helping extend the service life of the tanks.

From shop fabrication to field installation, this project demonstrates Alonso & Carus' continued commitment to delivering quality, safety, and reliability in every phase of ex*****on.

Today marks an exciting milestone as we officially begin the structural steel er****on of the new 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐨́𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐨 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐬, 𝐏𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐨.

The first piece of steel is now in place for this new 𝟏𝟎𝟕' 𝐱 𝟔𝟏' 𝐩𝐫𝐞-𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, which will provide a modern covered sports facility for students, faculty, and the entire Notre Dame community.

This project is especially meaningful to us because the building was designed in-house, detailed in-house, fabricated in our Cataño facility, and is now being installed by our own field crews, showcasing the full-service capabilities of Alonso & Carus from concept to completion.

Alonso & Carus Iron Works, Inc. is proud to announce the successful completion of the 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝟒𝟓,𝟎𝟎𝟎-𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐧𝐤 for the Félix Millán Baseball Park in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico.

This vertical welded steel tank was designed, fabricated, erected, and coated in accordance with the latest editions of 𝐀𝐖𝐖𝐀 𝐃𝟏𝟎𝟎-𝟐𝟏 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐅𝐏𝐀 𝟐𝟐 standards for fire protection water storage systems. The tank measures 𝟐𝟏’-𝟖” 𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐲 𝟐𝟎’-𝟎” 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 and provides critical fire protection water reserve capacity for the facility.

The project included:
✔️ Complete steel tank fabrication
✔️ Interior and exterior protective coating systems per AWWA standards
✔️ OSHA-compliant access ladder and roof railing system
✔️ Anchor chair system designed for Puerto Rico’s demanding wind and seismic conditions

The tank was constructed utilizing our specialized 𝐡𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐣𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦, allowing the shell courses and roof structure to be assembled progressively from the top down, minimizing crane dependency and enhancing er****on safety and quality control in the field.

This project reflects Alonso & Carus’ continued commitment to delivering high-quality welded steel tanks engineered for Puerto Rico’s harsh environmental and seismic conditions.
