From the streets of Ponce to the highest ranks of the United States Navy, Admiral Horacio Rivero Jr. broke a ceiling few thought possible. ⚓ He graduated near the top of his Naval Academy class in 1931 and went on to become the first Puerto Rican, and first Hispanic, to wear four stars as a full Admiral.

He served in some of the most intense naval battles of World War II in the Pacific, and later helped steer the Navy through the tense days of the Cuban Missile Crisis. 🌊 Few people back home realized that a man from Ponce was helping guide the most powerful fleet in the world.

His story is a reminder that Boricua excellence has reached every corner of the globe, even the open ocean. He carried the island with him to the very top. 🇵🇷
