In a recent paper published in Frontiers in Immunology, Dr. Ying Ye and colleagues at the Chongqing Medical University revealed down-regulated autoantibodies in early lung cancer patients. These tumor-associated autoantibodies can be detected months to years before diagnosis, offering a promising avenue for earlier detection. Using large-scale screening with , researchers identified 15 decreased autoantibodies that provide 80% sensitivity and 87% specificity for stage IA lung cancer. Notably, 10 of these autoantibodies returned to normal levels post-surgery, indicating their potential as biomarkers for residual tumors.
