RobotCraft's mission? Shattering limitations and igniting the next breed of robotics game-changers. In our latest, no-holds-barred RobotCraft session, we hurled ourselves into the heart of a gritty truth - today's education landscape demands more than a casual nod.

The chasm between generational learning styles? Undeniable. In an unapologetic stance, we've overhauled our playbook to stare this change down. Based on participants' feedback, we felt the urge to organize an extra full-day session around ROS on top of what the programme already offers. Apurva eloquently presented Duality's visionary approach, where their Digital Twin framework, Falcon, serves as a catalyst for innovation in robotics or, more generally, within embodied AI. 💡

Apurva captivated us by showcasing specific use cases where Digital Twins play a pivotal role, particularly in addressing challenging scenarios, like autonomous off-road navigation. The seamless integration of Digital Twins empowers mobile robots with enhanced perception and decision-making capabilities, propelling them to navigate through rugged terrains and complex environments with unparalleled efficiency. Today we had an enlightening session at RobotCraft 2023 with Fabio Remondino from Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), who emphasized the importance of data acquisition, including 3D mapping, and represented the transformative FEROX R&D project. 🎉

The FEROX project is driven by a noble mission - to improve the working conditions of wild berry pickers and optimize picking operations. Wild berries and mushrooms are a national treasure in Nordic countries, growing naturally in forests and requiring zero resources for cultivation. However, the manual forest harvesting of these precious food products poses challenges, particularly concerning pickers' working conditions. The majority of the work is conducted by foreign pickers with limited knowledge of the language, culture, and forests, making it imperative to find innovative solutions.
Fabio highlighted that the FEROX project leverages advances in AI, data, and robotics to address these challenges head-on. By harnessing the power of data acquisition, including 3D mapping, and integrating robotics technology, the project aims to revolutionize wild berry picking operations. The goal is to enhance the working conditions of pickers while optimizing the harvesting process for increased efficiency and sustainability. 🍒

The collaboration between FBK, representing the project coordination, and Ingeniarius and other European participants, underscores the significance of cross-border partnerships in driving innovation.
