Des.solve is a scientific research project funded under the European Research Council (ERC), agreement ERC-2016-COG 725034, with the aim to explore natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES) for chemical engineering processes. The knowledge that will be created along the activities of the project is expected, not only to have a major impact in the scientific community, but also in society, economy and industry. Typically, sugars, aminoacids or organic acids, are solid at room temperature but, when combined at a particular molar fraction, they present a high melting point depression, becoming liquids. These are called NADES and its applications can cover a wide range of fields such as biocatalysis, extraction, electrochemistry, carbon dioxide capture or biomedicine. In the future, these compounds will play a significant role towards the development of greener and sustainable processes. This page has the aim to publicly disclose the work that is being done under the scope of the project, and is not responsible for any use that may be made of the information it contains.
