🚫🥫 Rethinking Expiration Dates to Cut Food Waste

Did you know that over 30% of global food production is lost before or during retail—largely due to reliance on fixed expiration dates rather than real freshness?

Within the ICHTHYS project, a breakthrough smart sensor was developed to detect spoilage markers in food! This real-time freshness monitor opens the door to smarter, safer, and more sustainable food systems.

The PSAROTECH Workshop on Smart Packaging, Safety, and Quality Assessment Tools from Research-Oriented Technologies was a great success! 🎉

"Fish and seafood products generate significant amounts of waste worldwide due to their limited shelf life under standard storage conditions."

🐟 Our team has been working hard to tackle this challenge!
Our partners in Greece and Italy, have developed innovative biodegradable packaging materials made with biodegradable components and unique plasticizers that improve quality and extended shelf life for fresh fish fillets compared to conventional packaging!
