O Instituto CCG/ZGDV é uma entidade privada sem fins lucrativos que iniciou a sua atividade em 1993 e está atualmente sediado em Guimarães, no Campus de Azurém (Universidade do Minho).

É formalmente reconhecido pela Presidência do Conselho de Ministros como uma instituição de I&I (Investigação e Inovação) de Utilidade Pública, pelo Ministério da Economia como um Centro de Tecnologia e Inovação, e

pela Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia como parte do Centro de Investigação ALGORITMI (primeiro Centro de Investigação formalmente reconhecido em Portugal no domínio das Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação). Desenvolve atividades de investigação aplicada e de inovação tecnológica para a economia digital, concebendo e prototipando novos processos, serviços e produtos de elevado valor, nos domínios da computação gráfica, computação ubíqua, interação homem-máquina e engenharia de informação. Dotado de uma equipa multidisciplinar, dinâmica e com competências científico-tecnológicas, integra quatro Departamentos de I&I e uma oferta de serviços à sociedade e ao tecido empresarial:

CVIG (Computer Vision, Interaction and Graphics),

🚀 CCG/zgdv Institute was in the Master Final Event, held on 9 June in Oldenburg, Germany.

An opportunity to showcase the project's key achievements, hear from the Open Call projects that helped expand the MASTER ecosystem, and explore innovative technologies through demonstrations and networking activities.

During the event, Eduardo Santos (CCG/ZGDV) and Francisco Silva (CTCV - Centro de Tecnologia e Inovação) presented the XR-GRIT project, an innovative initiative to develop a gamified, immersive robotics training solution tailored to the ceramics, glass, and stone sectors.

Thanks to the Master XR consortium and all participants for an inspiring event and valuable exchange of knowledge. Together, we are shaping the future.

🤝 CCG/zgdv Institute 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐬 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠.

Over two days, Guimarães welcomed the inaugural meeting of the InovaJuntos Portugal Network, a cooperation platform bringing together municipalities and organisations committed to innovation, collaboration and the international promotion of territories.

On the second day of the programme, the CCG/ZGDV Institute hosted participants from various municipalities across Portugal for a session on knowledge sharing, innovation, and cooperation as part of an agenda that also included visits to Universidade do Minho and Laboratório da Paisagem.

🚀 What an inspiring two days at the "Mostra Empresarial - Semanas da Economia de Braga".

CCG/zgdv Institute showcased a range of innovative technologies and initiatives that are helping to shape the future of industry, mobility, healthcare, and entrepreneurship.

Visitors explored:
🤖 Gamified immersive robotics training;
📊 Stochastic simulation technologies;
📍 Indoor positioning solutions for industry;
🚍 A fully connected, data-driven smart urban mobility platform;
💡 EMPOWER – Empowering Young People to Become Entrepreneurs;
🎤 Research and innovation in the detection of neoplasms and lung cancer through computer vision technologies.

These two days were marked by valuable knowledge exchanges, engaging discussions, and new connections with companies, institutions, students, and technology enthusiasts.

What role do Artificial Intelligence and High Performance Computing play in the future of regional competitiveness?

As part of the Braga Economy Week promoted by InvestBraga, the CCG/ZGDV Institute hosted a session focused on the strategic impact of Artificial Intelligence and High Performance Computing (HPC) on the region’s economic and technological transformation. The event brought together academia, research centres and industry representatives to discuss the challenges and opportunities associated with digital innovation.

The session was moderated by Ricardo J. Machado and featured contributions from Paulo Cortez, Nuno Crasto, Antonio Sousa, Teresa Martins and Miguel Amador. Throughout the discussion, topics such as AI adoption across organisations, the role of advanced computing in accelerating innovation, access to critical technological infrastructure and the importance of digital skills development were explored.

With the participation of organisations including the University of Minho, the CNCA, Neadvance and Complear, the session reinforced the importance of collaboration between academia, technology centres and industry in building more innovative, resilient and competitive ecosystems.

Nuno Soares, researcher at the CCG/ZGDV Institute, took part in the Data Makers Fest on 6 May, where he presented CCG/ZGDV Institute’s contribution to the City4Climate initiative.

Funded by the PRR - Recuperar Portugal, City4Climate brings together a consortium of 15 partners, including the cities of Câmara Municipal do Porto, Câmara Municipal de Lisboa and Município de Guimarães, with the goal of developing urban digital twins to support climate action strategies and foster more sustainable and resilient cities.

The CCG/zgdv Institute had the honour of welcoming Daniel Ribeiro, from SENAI CIMATEC, for an institutional visit focused on sharing knowledge, expertise and the strategic areas in which CCG/ZGDV Institute operates both nationally and internationally.

During the visit, CCG/zgdv Institute teams presented several projects, technological capabilities, and applied research areas, highlighting the institute’s role in fostering innovation, digital transformation, and collaboration between science and industry. The meeting also highlighted the breadth of expertise within the organisation and the impact of its solutions across multiple sectors.

More than an institutional visit, this meeting was an opportunity to strengthen relationships, foster synergies, and explore future international collaboration, reinforcing CCG/ZGDV Institute’s commitment to building strategic networks for knowledge and innovation.

The CCG/ZGDV Institute took part in the final event of the TEXP@CT, showcasing several developments and technological innovations created throughout the different work packages in which it was involved.

The event provided an opportunity to demonstrate, in a practical and engaging way, the work carried out by CCG/ZGDV Institute researchers and teams in addressing the challenges of the digital transformation of the textile and clothing sector. Through technology demonstrations, innovative solutions and knowledge sharing, CCG/ZGDV Institute highlighted its ability to turn applied research into real impact for industry.

More than presenting technology, this event showcased the multidisciplinary expertise of CCG/ZGDV Institute’s departments, its collaborative approach within large scale consortium projects and its ongoing commitment to innovation. A reflection of the daily work carried out by CCG/ZGDV Institute teams to accelerate digitalisation, enhance competitiveness and bring technology closer to the real needs of organisations.
