Workshop Performance Testing of API 610 BB2 Crude Oil Transfer Pump

At Petrotec, we deliver engineering solutions that help customers improve operational efficiency, optimize energy consumption, increase mean time between failures (MTBF), extend the service life of critical assets, maximize equipment reliability, reduce maintenance and lifecycle costs, and lower emissions to support safer and more sustainable operations.

As part of our continuous efforts to enhance Pump Service capabilities, Petrotec has recently upgraded its pump performance testing facility to accommodate BB pumps, in addition to OH pumps.

We recently completed a successful ISO 9906:2012 performance test for a API 610 BB2 crude oil transfer pump, demonstrating our advanced testing capabilities and commitment to delivering accurate, reliable, and standards-compliant performance verification.

• Differential Head: 450 m
• Rated Power: 577 kW
• Suction Fl**ge Size: 14”

Petrotec, in partnership with IKM Ocean Team AS, successfully executed a Supercritical CO₂ (SCCO₂) flushing campaign for a major offshore oil and gas operator in Qatar, restoring four wells with fully and partially blocked downhole chemical injection and control lines.

Flow restrictions in chemical injection, control, and umbilical lines remain a critical risk to production and system integrity. Conventional methods often fall short in removing embedded fouling, scale, and debris within complex geometries.

SCCO₂ provides a step-change solution through:
• High density combined with ultra-low viscosity for deep pe*******on
• Superior diffusivity across long and intricate lines
• High carrying capacity for effective debris removal
• Strong solvent effect enabling dissolution of contaminants
The result was a reliable restoration of flow and system performance.
The technology supports the full asset lifecycle:
• Pre-commissioning: Control lines, chemical injection lines and Umbilicals / tubings
• Post-commissioning: Preventive maintenance and unblocking of lines.
• Decommissioning: Line clearing and flushing

This patented technology has also gained international recognition, with a nomination in the UK offshore energy sector’s Post-Commercial Deployment Technology Award category reinforcing its value in delivering high-impact results.

We were pleased to successfully host a focused technical seminar jointly with Flowserve for a selected group of our valued Oil & Gas customers at Petrotec’s Ras Laffan facility.

The session focused on practical upgrade solutions to improve pump reliability, efficiency, and lifecycle cost, covering material erosion and corrosion, material upgrades, special coatings, obsolete design pump upgrades, hydraulic rerates, energy advantage solutions, and seal upgrade opportunities including RVX.
