Our summer interns have made significant progress on their voice-controlled robotic arm for hands-free laboratory test preparation.
A major part of the software and firmware is now complete and ready for testing on the real hardware. So far, the interns have tested the firmware with individual components and verified the software using simulators.
The team has also developed the control logic and mathematics needed to translate visual information into precise robot movements. The 3D model is complete, the 3D printers have been put to use. The robot is currently being assembled and will soon be ready for testing. This will be an important step, as the team brings the different elements together and finally sees how the modules interact with one another from beginning to end.
Along the way, the interns also had an idea that genuinely impressed us. We cannot reveal too much just yet, but it adds another exciting dimension to the project.
