Our successes
Based on the results of the "UMNIK" competition, the project of the postgraduate student Svetlana Leshchenko “Developing a lidar installation for the search and localization of oil and gas fields in Siberia and the Far North” was supported. One of the first publications of the authors in this area of ​​research was included in the anthology of research scientific papers «Space engineering, technologies & exploration». This anthology has been issued within the framework of the joint ERASMUS+ project “APPLE-Applied curricula in space exploration and intelligent robotic systems”.
Oil and gas production increases significantly every year. In Russia alone, about 550 million tons / year of oil and 690 billion m3 / year of natural gas are produced annually. Prospective gas-containing zones are located mainly in remote regions of Siberia and the far north. The authors have proposed the use of remote lidar sounding of the atmosphere based on the idea of ​​resonant absorption. The lidar installation will be located on an unmanned aerial vehicle, which will allow reaching hard-to-reach areas. The proposed method can be used to monitor the environment and prevent environmental disasters.
The competition is held within the framework of the national program "Digital Economy of the Russian Federation" and provides young researchers with the opportunity.

III Regional Winter School "Digital Information Technologies", December 13-15, 2019
This year, the Regional Winter School expanded its program and circle of participants. In addition to students and graduate students, schoolchildren from Krasnoyarsk and Sayanogorsk became participants in the event. The youngest participant of the Winter School this year turned 11 years old. The school participants presented their developments at the exhibition, presented projects and reports. We are pleased to note that it was students in grades 8–9 who presented very interesting and complex works.
Schoolchildren 11-16 years old took a course of programming microcontrollers in the graphic programming language LabVIEW "for dummies", which includes informative lectures and practical exercises on real equipment.
Schoolchildren 16 years and older, as well as students, have mastered the skills of developing projects for FPGAs in the language of hardware description language Verilog.
The Regional Winter School was held in the RoboLab laboratory, launched in the framework of the APPLE Project. Modern computers, a 3D scanner and a laser printer have been supplied as part of the Project. The laboratory is also equipped with the modern specialized microcontroller stands and FPGA debugging boards. This equipment was purchased at the expense of the University and grants received by the Laboratory of Microprocessor Systems of the Computer Science Department.

Open door days at Siberian Federal University, November 1-2, 2019.
Teachers, graduate students and undergraduates of the Computer Sciense Department took part in open days at SibFU.
Prospective students got acquainted with the work of the 3D printer and scanner, an automated control system based on a mobile greenhouse, assembled and disassembled a personal computer for speed. Visitors got advice on improving and repairing the PC from the real “Computer Doctor”.
School graduates got acquainted with the educational and laboratory complex of the Institute of Space and Information Technologies of the Siberian Federal University.
Information about a joint international educational project APPLE with leading universities in Europe aroused great interest among future students and their parents.

On November 29-30, the interactive popular science exhibition “Discovery System” held in the framework of the anniversary NAUKA 0+ Science Festival in Krasnoyarsk. Students and teachers of the Computer Science Department of the School of Space and Information Technologies, SibFU, presented exposition of the student's projects.
In the series of scientific and educational events in Russia, the Science Festival became one of the largest and most spectacular events of 2019. The organizers of the Central regional platform of the All-Russian Science Festival of the Krasnoyarsk Territory are the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Russian Academy of Sciences, Siberian Federal University. The co-organizer of the Festival is PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel.
The exhibition “Discovery System” was attended by Krasnoyarsk universities, institutions of additional education, museums, libraries, institutes of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as well as high-tech and innovative enterprises of the region.
The exhibition program covers key scientific, educational and enlightening topics and events of the city. The exhibition has become a platform for open interaction between different generations of researchers and developers. Within the framework of the Festival, lectures of eminent Russian and foreign scientists, unique scientific shows, master classes and competitions for children were held.
Visitors of the exhibition were impressed by the projects developed on the basis of the RoboLab laboratory. This laboratory was launched as part of the APPLE Project. The equipment received within the APPLE Project allowed to realize the most daring ideas of future scientists.

We are pleased to inform you that a joint article of the APPLE consortium members has been accepted for publication and previously published in the electronic library of "EAI Endorsed Transactions on Energy Web" Journal, indexed in Scopus.
The research team includes representatives of the School of Space and Information Technologies of Siberian Federal University, Krasnoyarsk, and Institut für Luft- und Raumfahrt, Technische Universität Berlin.
The title of the article is “A neural regulator for efficient control of electric vehicle motors”. A number of promising designs of electric vehicles use separate wheeled motors. In this case, an important task of designing a power supply system is to provide effective control of electric motors and battery charge / discharge modes.
The article considers the problem of determining optimal coefficients of the electric motor proportional-integral (PI) controller and their influence on the power distribution in the electric vehicle on-board power supply system. It is proposed to implement separate adaptive control of electric motors, taking into account conditions of operating, road surface, and other factors. There are introduced two options for the motor controller implementation: an adaptive PI-controller and an intelligent PI-controller with an adaptive observer based on a neural network. The proposed control method reduces inrush currents and torque spikes, that prolongs the service life of mechanical components. During motor operation, the neural network can continue learning and adjusting PI-controller coefficients to changes in operating conditions (for example, seasonal) and motor parameters. Assumed outcomes of this solution will be improving electric vehicle characteristics, increasing mileage and battery life time, and prospective transition to an electronic differential.

The joint research group of the School of Space and Information Technologies of Siberian Federal University, Krasnoyarsk and the Higher School of Cyberphysical Systems and Management of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University published an article "Ensuring the minimum duration of transients in Switching voltage regulators with digital control". The article is published in "EAI Endorsed Transactions on Energy Web" Journal, indexed in Scopus.

The article describes a solution suggested to minimize the finite transient duration of a switched voltage regulator for step changes in load current. The prototype of the SVR digital control unit is implemented on the field-programmable gate array integrated circuit Cyclone III EP3C120F780 using the NIOS II soft-processor core. Embedded software is developed to calculate the control pulse duration for power switches in accordance with the synthesized control laws taking into account the feedback loop signal. A case study of the prototype shows that it provides the duration of transients caused by a load current step change, equal to 3-4 conversion periods at the frequency of 120 kHz. It confirms the suitability of the developed models, algorithms and control laws for ensuring the minimum transient duration.

From November 7 to November 9, the Regional Winter School “Digital Embedded Systems” was held at the School of Space and Information Technologies of the Siberian Federal University.
Organizers and teachers of the Winter School are employees of JSC “Academician M.F. Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems” (ISS) and the Microprocessor Systems Laboratory of the Computer Science Department of SSIT SFU:
Oleg Nepomnyashchiy, Head of the CS Dept., coordinator of the SibFU working group on the APPLE project;
Alina Leskovskaya, design engineer of the 2nd category of JSC ISS;
Dmitry Vlasov, engineer JSC ISS;
Boris Dudkin, software engineer of the 2nd category of JSC ISS;
Natalia Sirotinina, Associate Professor, Head of the MS Laboratory, participant of the APPLE Project;
Anton Khantemirov, Assistant of the MS Laboratory, participant of the APPLE Project.
The target audience of the School are bachelors and master students studying in “Computer Science and Engineering” and related areas.
During the Regional Winter School, students were familiarized with the basics of the Verilog hardware description language, mastered the basic techniques of using the specialized CAD environment Quartus, debugging stands, peripherals and sensors, and gained practical skills in designing digital embedded systems on the base of FPGA Intel (Altera).
Classes were held on the laboratory "RoboLab", deployed in the framework of the APPLE Project. One of the most important tasks of the School was approbating teaching materials developed in conjunction with the universities participating in the APPLE Project and conducting pilot training. During the round table that completed the activities of the Regional Winter School, participants discussed results of the School, directions for improving the teaching and learning materials, prospects for the APPLE Project and opportunities of cooperation between the SibFU and the JSC ISS in the format of the APPLE + .

Первая региональная зимняя школа "Цифровые встраиваемые системы"
С 7 по 9 ноября в Институте космических и информационных технологий Сибирского федерального университета состоялась региональная зимняя школа «Цифровые встраиваемые системы». В работе школы принимали участие сотрудники АО «ИНФОРМАЦИОННЫЕ СПУТНИКОВЫЕ СИСТЕМЫ» имени академика М.Ф. Решетнёва» и научно-учебной лаборатории «Микропроцессорные системы» кафедры Вычислительной техники ИКИТ СФУ, студенты бакалавриата и магистратуры, обучающиеся по направлению «Информатика и вычислительная техника» и смежным направлениям.
Организаторы и преподаватели Зимней школы:

В ходе Региональной зимней школы студенты ознакомились с основами языка описания аппаратуры Verilog, освоили базовые приемы работы со специализированной САПР Quartus, отладочными стендами, периферийными устройствами и датчиками, получили практические навыки проектирования встраиваемых цифровых систем на базе ПЛИС фирмы Intel.
Занятия проводились на базе лаборатории «РобоЛаб», развернутой в рамках реализации проекта APPLE. Одной из важнейших задач школы явилась апробация учебных материалов, разрабатываемых совместно с университетами-участниками проекта APPLE и проведение пилотного обучения. В ходе круглого стола, завершившего мероприятия Региональной зимней школы, были обсуждены полученные результаты, направления совершенствования учебно-методических материалов, перспективы проекта APPLE и возможности сотрудничества с АО ИСС в формате договора APPLE+.
