A team at the Kangwon National University, Republic of Korea found that bacteriophages shows promise as growth promoter in pigs. Its combination with other additives was also studied.

Gradually bacteriophages are becoming internationally recognised remedy to the antibiotic resistance problem: "earlier this year, phage therapy was highlighted as one of seven approaches to “achieving a coordinated and nimble approach to addressing antibacterial resistance threats” in a 2014 status report from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)."

Due to the bacteria threat in UK FSA recommend not to wash chicken to avoid cross-contamination. There are arguments to continue washing as well. So, if you wash it, make it carefully. With bacteriophage treatment of the chicken this precaution could be out of need.

We filled our first PCT application with a couple more on its way. Apart of R&D itself, it was a huge amount of work and $$. The tricky thing was to draft PCT related to bacteriophages which exist in nature on their own and first were discovered more than 100 years ago. UK lawyers helped us to handle this. The PCT is covering some of our phages and production method.

Campylobacter contamination of chicken in Europe is about 60%, in Russia (unofficially) - around 100%. Bacteriophages. In Russia the campylobacter problem is still underestimated. As with Salmonella the most important is to cook chicken properly and to avoid cross contamination.

One third of the chicken legs could be contaminated with Salmonella (http://rbcdaily.ru/magazine/privacy/562949988487305). It's not a big deal if you cooked it properly. Don't put vegetables and other food nearby to avoid cross contamination. Actually we have Salmonella phages and can easily decontaminate chicken, so now we are looking for the industrial partner interested in such a product.
