PSME-SA Honored for More Than Three Decades of Service in Saudi Arabia
AL-KHOBAR, Saudi Arabia — The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers – Saudi Arabia Chapter (PSME-SA) was honored with the Gawad Parangal sa Natatanging Organisasyon by the Overseas Pinoy Professional Advocates – Saudi Arabia (OPPA-SA) during the Plate of Hope 2.0 ceremony held on October 2, 2026, at the Holiday Inn, Al-Khobar.
The recognition acknowledged PSME-SA’s more than three decades of service and contribution in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reflecting a legacy of professional leadership, community involvement, and service to Filipino Mechanical Engineers since its establishment in 1990.
Chartered in 1990, PSME-SA is the first PSME Chapter established outside the Philippines, pioneering the Society’s expansion across the Middle East and Asia-Pacific. From this pioneering chapter, PSME has grown into a global organization with 156 chapters worldwide.
For more than 30 years, PSME-SA has served as a professional home for Filipino Mechanical Engineers in Saudi Arabia. Its Headquarters in Al-Khobar continues to provide a venue for Continuing Professional Development (CPD), Special Professional Licensure Examination (SPLE) review and mentoring, professional activities, fellowship, and member engagement.
Over the years, PSME-SA has also undertaken programs covering technical education, licensure support, scholarships, fellowship, sports, member welfare, and community service, contributing to the advancement of the mechanical engineering profession and the welfare of the Filipino community in the Kingdom.
The award was received by PSME-SA President Engr. Aliw Carter M. Elamparo, together with PSME-SA Past Presidents, members of the Board of Trustees Executive Committee, members, and Ladies Circle, representing the collective efforts of generations of PSME-SA leaders and members.
The Gawad Parangal sa Natatanging Organisasyon was presented to PSME-SA alongside six other organizations honored for their contributions to the Filipino community in Saudi Arabia, recognizing the organizations’ long-standing presence and service in the Kingdom.
The ceremony also recognized 34 Filipino migrants through the Gawad Parangal sa Natatanging Migrante, honoring individuals for their more than 30 years of service in Saudi Arabia. Among the distinguished recipients were four Filipino Mechanical Engineers: Engr. Salvador G. Alpuerto Jr., Engr. Ramiro M. Yumang, Engr. Celso I. Garcia, and Engr. William P. Yee.
The recognition of PSME-SA as a Natatanging Organisasyon and the recognition of the individual Natatanging Migrante awardees shared a common theme of more than three decades of service in the Kingdom, celebrating both the enduring contribution of an organization and the individual dedication of Filipino professionals who have spent much of their careers serving in Saudi Arabia.
For PSME-SA, the honor further underscores its legacy as a pioneering chapter built on Leadership, Professionalism, Fellowship, and Service, continuing its mission to advance the profession and strengthen the Filipino community in Saudi Arabia.
