🚨 When every second matters, can AI help us respond smarter?

At Coolest Projects Sudan, young innovator Yassin Ghassan presented RescuePoint — an AI-powered emergency assistance system designed to help people move from emergency to action: faster, smarter, and safer.

The concept allows a user to describe an emergency through voice or text, uses Machine Learning to classify the situation, provides predefined guidance, and can initiate a simulated help request containing the emergency type and location.

What makes RescuePoint stand out is its purpose: using AI, programming, and human-centred design to explore how technology could improve access to guidance and communication when immediate help may not be available.

This is what makes a project Cool: not technology for technology’s sake, but technology designed around a real human need. 💡🌍

Meet Ibrahim Ahmed, one of the young innovators at Coolest Projects Sudan, who developed a Smart City project exploring how technology can make cities smarter, safer, and more sustainable.

Using sensors, automation, and Python programming, Ibrahim designed a connected system that can monitor and respond to challenges across traffic, smart lighting, waste management, the environment, water, and energy. His concept also brings these systems together through a central digital dashboard for real-time monitoring.

This is what STEM education should inspire: young people looking at complex real-world challenges and asking, “How can I build a better solution?”

🌊🤖 Can robotics help protect our oceans? Abdelrahman believes it can.

At Coolest Projects Sudan, Abdelrahman developed an innovative marine robot concept designed to collect plastic waste from the sea while supporting the protection of coral reef ecosystems.

His project brings together Robotics, Engineering Design, Environmental Science, and Problem-Solving — demonstrating how STEM can empower young people to address real environmental challenges.

At Coolest Projects Sudan, young innovators Khalid and Rowya transformed this question into an exciting idea: a Planting Drone designed to explore how drone technology and automation can support smarter and more efficient agriculture.

Their project reflects what we want young innovators to do — observe real challenges, think creatively, and use technology to build solutions with purpose.

One of the most exciting projects presented at Coolest Projects Sudan was created by our innovative student Abdallah, whose idea received recognition and appreciation from our VIP Judges.

💡 The Challenge:
How can we contribute to achieving Zero Hunger by developing more sustainable and efficient agricultural practices?

🌍 Abdallah’s Vision: A Fully Automated Sustainable Greenhouse

Using Tinkercad, Abdallah designed and simulated a smart greenhouse system that explores how sensors, automation, and intelligent control could be used to create a more sustainable agricultural environment.

Although the project is currently a digital simulation rather than a physical hardware prototype, Abdallah used the simulation to model how an automated greenhouse could respond to environmental conditions and support more efficient crop growth.

Abdallah started with a real-world challenge and used digital prototyping to explore a potential solution:

🌱 Sustainable agriculture
💧 Smarter use of resources
🌡️ Monitoring environmental conditions
🤖 Automation of agricultural processes
🌍 Supporting the vision of Zero Hunger – SDG 2

And this is exactly what we want to see in young innovators.

They don't have to start with an expensive laboratory or a complete physical prototype.

Sometimes, the first step toward changing the world is simply having the courage to imagine, design, simulate, test, and improve an idea.

This is how we empower the next generation of STEM innovators and future problem-solvers. 🚀🌱

Mahmoud’s inspiring project explores the development of a smart cane for blind and visually impaired individuals, integrating Computer Vision and programming algorithms to support safer daily navigation, greater independence, and better inclusion in everyday life. 🤖🦯

We are proud to celebrate Ahmed Ghassan and Dan Ahmed for earning a Coolest Projects Badge 🏆🇸🇩 at Coolest Projects Showcase Sudan 2.0! 🚀

Their project applies Artificial Intelligence (AI) to a real Sudanese challenge: sorting Gum Arabic based on quality, with the aim of improving consistency and increasing the added value of Sudan’s natural product.

The project was recognised by all three VIP judges ( Dr Nahid Fawi , Dr Muna Abu Gosseissa and Dr. Sonja Bienert), highlighting its strong connection between AI, innovation, and real-world problem-solving.

This is exactly the mindset we strive to develop: using technology not just to learn, but to solve meaningful problems.

Meet Malak, a young innovator whose bold idea earned the Judges’ Favourite Project Badge at Coolest Projects showcase Sudan 2.0! 🚀💡

Malak’s project tackles a critical real-world challenge: water conservation and responsible water use. 💧

Her idea explores how household wastewater could be treated closer to where it is generated and potentially recycled for toilet use, aiming to reduce water waste and promote more sustainable water management.

What makes Malak’s achievement truly inspiring is that she is not simply learning about technology — she is using engineering thinking to explore solutions to a real problem. Her project reflects the process of designing, building, testing, and improving solutions to complex challenges.
