⚖️Changes in wastewater directives⚖️EU Directive 2024/3019 requires plants above 150,000 population equivalent to add fourth-stage treatment by 2045, with milestones starting in 2033 – around 3,000 plants in Germany alone. The target: pharmaceuticals, hormones and other micropollutants that conventional three-stage treatment can't touch. Early decisions here shape 20 years of operating cost and complexity, so the smart move is to start scoping now, not once the deadline is close.
