In this final episode, we look at another common challenge in square shoulder milling: keeping machine load under control to improve efficiency and avoid unnecessary power demand.

Our milling expert shares practical recommendations to help you reduce cutting forces and machine load:
-> Use normal pitch cutters to balance the load
-> Choose a positive milling cutter to reduce cutting forces
-> Reduce cutting speed before adjusting feed per tooth to lower power consumption and if needed then reduce axial and radial depth of cut
-> Use chip splitter inserts for smoother cutting action and improved chip control

✅ The result: lower power consumption, reduced machine stress and a more efficient milling process.

At Seco, sustainability is embedded in how we operate, innovate, and support our customers. Since 2019, we've reduced just under a quarter of value chain emissions with major progress in Scopes 1 & 2 which Seco has driven over 80% reduction.
