Is the Machinery Regulation completely different from the Machinery Directive?

No. Many fundamental machinery safety principles continue, including risk assessment, protective measures, conformity assessment, technical documentation and CE marking. The Regulation updates and extends the framework in a number of areas. It also contains many articles that are not relevant for the manufacturers, but only to the Member States and the EU Commission.

Tomorrow is World Mental Health Day, and we're highlighting the importance of mental health and well-being in creating a safe and supportive workplace.

Together with Helena Reje, founder of Always Mind, we've taken important steps through lectures, a dedicated mental health day, group discussions and training sessions. We're now proud to be the first company to take part in her Train the Trainer program.

Do existing risk assessments need to be updated?

Existing risk assessments should be reviewed to determine whether they meet the requirements of the new Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230. This includes reviewing how protective measures are documented and considering new or updated requirements that may affect the machinery and its application.
