Added emitters and a emitter editor (must have, too much work to tweak numbers on real hardware) for my 2D particle system. The editor is created with Lovable.

The simulation in the editor and the real deal on the game console are very similar! This is really nice but not quite sure how to make best use for it in a fighting game. Might make a shoot'em'up as next game to fully explore the world of particle systems.

Made a small particle system. Would bring some nice effects when e.g. hitting the opponent.
.but probably not what I should be doing...

Finally got some interactions between players. This is what eill bring my Street Fighter clone to the next level.

So far only push boxes are implemented but it is a good start.

Finally getting to the next mile point of my Street Fighter clone. Up until now the players have not been able to interact with each other which seems like a quite important part in a fighter game 😅

That is about to change!

I am starting with push boxes. A push box prevents players to move in each other and instead make them push each other away. This is the first step in getting interactions

Oh, I wish I have thought about this earlier. I would have saved so much time. A few prompts later I gave a fully functional animation editor for my Street Fighter clone. No longer do I need to adjust pixel by pixel, animation by animation, each adjustment requiring a recompile to check the result

A miniproject using a RoundyPi and a DS18B20 (temperature sensor). First time for me to use CircuitPython. Once it was installed, it was surprisingly easy to read the DS18B20 and show it on the display.

Did some timing measurements on my Metal Slug–style engine.

Still kind of wild how fast this little console is.

Less than 1 ms to push a full frame
(from external QSPI → internal RAM)

That’s roughly 5% CPU for a full-screen render.

Built a collision map editor for my Metal Slug–style game using Lovable.

It exports a C header that plugs directly into the engine.

Using AI to spin up small tools like this saves a ton of time.

Phew, got Doom to run on my game console. So many challenges and bumps on the way but it is finally up and running!

Beautiful! Now I can take a break.

Breaking down the hardware behind my custom handheld console.
Cortex-M7 @ 280MHz driving a parallel LCD, QSPI asset streaming for game graphics or audio.
