Meet Wilma👀, a passionate space enthusiast from the small southern town of Lidköping, Sweden!

With a natural curiosity for all things science and math, Wilma’s journey to space engineering was inspired by a life-changing lecture during her final year of high school. A deep dive into planetary geology opened her eyes to the possibilities of working within space technology, and she knew right then that space engineering was the path for her.🪐 After completing natural science studies and spending a year working with home healthcare, she moved to the far north to pursue her degree in Civil Engineering in Space Technology at Luleå University of Technology. ❄️

Wilma is part of both the Science & Payload and Outreach departments in the FENRIR project. In the Science & Payload department, she’s focusing on Phase Change Materials (PCM)👩‍🔬, a material she has no previous experience of but is however excited to explore. Meanwhile, in the Outreach department, she’s helping to share the exciting journey of the FENRIR project with the public, spreading the word about space exploration (hope you all enjoy it 😉)!

When she’s not busy working on FENRIR she perhaps should study but it usually happens that she either spends time with friends, watching movies or organizing student events, as she is a part of the student party association in Kiruna as well. 💃🏼🕺🏼

What excites Wilma the most? The upcoming launch! 🚀She’s eagerly awaiting the moment all our hard work comes to life with a successful ejection and recovery. Her work with PCM payload has been especially thrilling so far, as it’s a new field to explore, full of surprises and lessons.

And if there’s one thing Wilma truly appreciates, it’s glue—because everything just works better when it sticks together!🤓

Meet Adam👀, a key member of the Science & Payload🧑‍🔬and the Software🧑‍💻department in FENRIR! Originally from Spain, he studied at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia before coming to Kiruna. Before diving into space engineering, Adam spent a year working in the automotive sector 🚗—but as exciting as cars are, the idea of building something that goes (almost) to space was even cooler! 🪐🚀

His fascination with space started young, staring up at the stars and wondering what’s out there🌠. Eventually, a mix of curiosity and a few inspiring YouTube channels convinced him to pursue engineering. Now, in FENRIR, he’s most excited about seeing the team’s hard work turn into something real that will be launched into the sky. So far, one of the biggest challenges—and the most fun—has been figuring out how the camera system for the PCM payload works 📸

Outside of the project, Adam is always on the move. He regularly hits the gym and enjoys football, hockey, boxing, and climbing—basically, anything that keeps him active 🏋️. And if you ever need a food recommendation, lasagna is his top pick!😋

Meet Sophia👀, an exciting new member of the Science and Payload department in the FENRIR project!

Originally from Germany 🇩🇪, Sophia’s fascination with space began early. In school, she wrote a paper on the technologies showcased in ”The Martian” 👩🏼‍🚀, which sparked a deep interest in anything related to space🪐 Her curiosity led her to pursue a minor in aerospace engineering during her bachelor’s studies, further fueling her passion for the field.

Sophia previously studied at the University of Stuttgart, where she earned her degree in mathematics📚. Her solid theoretical foundation and experience in scientific work make her an asset to the team as she applies her knowledge to ensure the success of the project’s scientific goals. In the FENRIR project, Sophia plays an important role in the Science and Payload department, where she is excited to contribute to the scientific results and see how everything will come together at the end.

Outside of her studies and work on FENRIR, Sophia enjoys practicing yoga to relax and baking cakes🍰, especially those with a generous amount of chocolate! 😋

Sophia’s enthusiasm for learning and discovering new things is already making a positive impact on the project. Let’s cheer her on as she helps bring the FENRIR mission closer to achieving its goals!

ITW✅

Last week, 4 members of the FENRIR team traveled to Bremen for the Integration Test Week. Over the course of just 3 days, they performed individual checks, module fit checks, vibration tests, ejection tests, and integration tests, which is all critical steps towards a successful launch for our project. To say the least, it was no vacation—only hard work! 💪 Big thanks to Vincent, Luuk, Francisca and Jorge for their dedication and expertise!

Stay tuned for the upcoming Bench Test in January 😎

👀Meet Eulalie, a dedicated and passionate student who has come all the way from France to join Team Fenrir. Originally studying aeronautical maintenance at ENSPIMA, Bordeaux INP, she is currently an exchange student in Kiruna.❄️🏔️

As part of the mechanical department, Eulalie brings a fresh perspective and enthusiasm for hands-on work. She is excited to be involved in a project where she can contribute to creating physical components and see the tangible impact they have on the overall mission. For her, the ability to take part in something so concrete is one of the most rewarding aspects of the project.

When she’s not busy working on the project, she enjoys to relax and unwind with some music as well as swimming some laps in the swimming pool🏊‍♀️. Sadly she will miss the opening of the new bathhouse in Kiruna (as most of us 😉), as her exchange semester is soon coming to an end😢.

Eulalie’s passion for engineering and hands-on work, along with her commitment to learning, made her a fantastic addition to the mechanical department in FENRIR.✨

👀Meet Jorge, a passionate addition to the Mechanical Department in FENRIR!

Originally from El Ejido, Spain🇪🇸, Jorge has been captivated by space ever since he was a child. A Spanish educational video game set in space sparked his curiosity, and he hasn’t looked back since. His dream? To help humanity become interplanetary and contribute to groundbreaking advancements in space exploration.☄️🔭

Jorge studied Aerospace Engineering at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), where he developed essential problem-solving skills and teamwork abilities through projects like SAETA UC3M. His high school participation in an Erasmus project, where he helped create a tourism app during a trip to Greece, further strengthened his skills in collaboration and innovation. Just what we need for our project.🦾

In FENRIR, Jorge plays a key role in the Mechanical Department, focusing on critical tasks like the Free Falling Unit (FFU) drop tests. He describes seeing his designs come to life as “an unforgettable experience” and is thrilled about the upcoming Integration Test Week (ITW) in Bremen.

When he’s not working on FENRIR, Jorge loves relaxing with movies, series, video games, and books, but his favorite pastime is creating spontaneous and fun plans with friends, including last-minute trips! And knowing Jorge, he’s likely to stumble upon another Spanish-speaking person along the way, as his uncanny habit for finding them in the Nordic countries. Who knows, maybe Kiruna is secretly a part of Spain after all!🤫

Let’s cheer Jorge on as he brings his talents and energy to FENRIR, pushing the project toward a successful launch!
