The abrasive you start with determines the seal you end up with.

Valve grinding is a staged process. Coarser abrasives remove surface damage and restore the basic geometry of the seat. Finer abrasives then bring the surface to the tolerances required for a reliable, leak-free seal. Skipping steps, or using the wrong grit at the wrong stage, leaves a surface that appears finished but will not hold under operating pressure.

The LarsLap range of grit discs and micron discs is developed for this sequence, with each abrasive grade matched to a specific stage of the grinding and lapping process. Using the correct consumable at each stage is as important as the machine itself.

The LarsLap grinding system is ready in three steps.
