We don’t just listen - we act

As a large, global company, Alfa Laval work hard to ensure that our employee engagement survey is turned into actionable results.

We see it as a powerful tool for listening, learning, and improving. This year alone, multiple actions have been initiated as a direct result of employees’ thoughts and ideas.

In Kunshan, China, our production site’s engagement score soared by 25 points in our latest survey, because we acted on what our employees shared.

Here’s how we together turned feedback into action:

🤝 Team play: Communication and collaboration were the foundation; everyone worked together to analyse results and identify areas for improvement.

📣 Utilizing all channels: Keeping action plans on track and reminding everyone of our shared commitments required using all available channels.

🗣️ Transparent leadership: Managers addressed concerns openly, explained decisions clearly, and were visible and approachable throughout the process.

🌱 Wellbeing improvements: Making employee preferences dictate air conditioning upgrades, planning of the canteen menu as well as refurbishing offices.

By letting valuable feedback meet direct actions, we create a workplace where everyone can influence the way they work.

The global textile industry accounts for nearly 8% of greenhouse gas emissions, with more than half coming from energy-intensive processes like dyeing, finishing, yarn preparation and fibre production.

To address this challenge, Spirax Sarco, Atlas Copco and IKEA, together with their suppliers, visited Alfa Laval's headquarters in Lund, Sweden, to explore how improving efficiency can drive scalable decarbonization.

IKEA and its suppliers are already far along in the renewable transition. In textile wet processing, proven heat recovery and water reuse can cut energy, emissions, and water use, at scale through collaboration.

The road to net zero won’t run on one fuel alone

“We believe the path forward lies in a multi-fuel landscape. Future-proofing to us means having the capability to switch and adapt as fuel technologies evolve.

The journey to net zero is not simple, and significant innovation is needed,” says Elena Timossi, Global Sales, Fuel Supply Systems at Alfa Laval.

The future of food is in good hands

On 28–29 April 2026, Alfa Laval was honoured to host the 19th European PhD Workshop on Food Engineering and Technology at our Innovation Centre in Flemingsberg, Sweden.

Organized by the Food Section of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE), the workshop brought together PhD students and postdoctoral researchers from across Europe and beyond. Over two packed days, they presented their work, exchanged ideas and built industry connections that can help shape future food solutions.

From plant-based milk alternatives and cheese innovation to bread baking and new applications for red lentil flour, the research on display highlighted the creativity and commitment of the next generation of food engineers.

Their contributions to food security and processing efficiency were also recognized through the EFCE Food Engineering Awards, presented during the event.
