How do you prefer to perform dilutions?

✨ With the Dilugent® Shaker, there are many ways to serially dilute your samples:

One after another in the same line,
or in the same column,

from right to left,
or from left to right,

with a blister of 3x7 Dilucups on the right,
or on the left,

with a full blister of 6x7 Dilucups,
or with just a few rows,

you can start at the beginning of the blister,
or from any cup you prefer.

💡 If you want to dilute samples one after another in the same column instead of the standard in-line method, simply tap the Dilucups you don't want to use at that moment on the touchscreen, and they will be skipped.

You can do all the above with all versions: Light, standard and Pro.

With the Pro version, you have even more flexibility and can program the samples exactly as you want,
even from the back.

Dilugent® Shaker is one of those intuitive and easy-to-use instruments that microbiologists often love. It's flexible and allows you to perform serial dilutions as needed.

👉Tips and tricks:
If you've already used some Dilucups and want to use others from the same blister, just tap the cups you don’t want to use on the touchscreen. The instrument will ignore them automatically.

For example, if you need to dilute 3 different samples 4 times (10-4) like on the picture:
✅Tap the last two Dilucups in every row you want to use.
✅Use the first four cups for your current samples.
✅The remaining two are now ready for another sample.
No complicated reconfigurations, just a smart system that adapts to your needs.

Once you’ve tried Dilugent® Shaker, it’s hard to imagine going back to dilution tubes and vortex mixer.

I still remember the first time I used a vortex mixer to dilute a sample. It seemed simple, but it was actually tricky.

I just had to take the test tube and press it against the vortex mixer until a swirl appears along its length.

This ensures proper sample homogenization.

The reality is that it's not as easy as it seems, and you need to learn the technique to create that swirl.

❌ Press too lightly and the liquid barely moves.
❌ Tilt the tube and it doesn’t work.
❌ Press too hard and the mixer head stops moving entirely.

➡️You have to hold the tube firmly, perfectly vertical, and apply just the right amount of downward force until a nice vortex appears all the way along the tube.

Doing this once or twice is fine.
But when you have dozens of samples, holding each tube down with that force for several seconds each, quickly becomes exhausting.

Your hand, wrist and arm start to feel it. 😖

All those repetitive vibrations and pressing is anything but ergonomic.

Now imagine doing that for several hours a day,
every day,
for years. 😵‍💫

Have you ever had an instrument out of service in your lab for several days or even weeks?

Then you know what that means: having to perform operations manually again and, most likely, delays in the analyses.

In other words: increased stress for the lab staff.

The Dilugent® Shaker and Dilushaker normally work very well, and it's very rare for these instruments to break down.

In fact, it's fascinating to meet some customers who have been using the same Dilushaker for 20 years.

But like all instruments, a problem can sometimes arise, and in that case, we intervene immediately.
Our specialized technical service team repairs the shakers as quickly as possible. Of course, if it's necessary to keep the shaker in the workshop for a few days, we always make sure that a replacement instrument is available in the lab in the meantime.

This way, we minimize downtime and ensure that your serial dilutions always run smoothly.
