👀 Two transparent gels. Same concentration. Different behavior.

In this short video, we compare two structured gels at the same concentration.

Both look soft.
Both appear transparent.
Both hold their shape.

But when the spatula moves across the surface, a subtle difference appears.

Can you spot it?

💡 One of these gels is based on carbomer, one of the most established thickening systems in cosmetics and personal care formulations. Made from petroleum.

The other gel is based on our RheoTouch cellulose fibrils. Made from plant fibers.

Rather than giving away the answer here, we’ll let you decide:

Same material. Different concentrations:
0.25% -> 0.4% -> 1.0% -> 1.5%
At just 0.25%, the gel is already thick. At higher concentrations, it behaves like a paste and even moves with the spoon.

A thick cellulose nanofiber gel can flow smoothly through a narrow syringe tip thanks to shear-thinning behavior.

One of the biggest challenges with cellulose nanofibers (nanocellulose) is drying and redispersing.

When nanofiber dispersions dry, the fibers usually stick together and the original gel structure is lost.

In this video we show how FineCell’s dry nanofiber flakes absorb water, separate again, and rebuild a transparent, highly viscous gel.

This opens new possibilities for transport, storage, and industrial use of nanocellulose.

When nanofibers are extremely fine and well separated, they form a transparent and highly viscous dispersion.

This means:

· ✅ strong thickening
· ✅ excellent stabilization
· ✅ smooth formulations

A simple visual sign of high fibrillation quality. These properties enable applications across many industries including cosmetics, personal care, coatings, packaging, and advanced materials.
