A Hi 👋 from the WWSC Academy course in Ö-vik!
This week, WWSC Academy is in Örnsköldsvik for a course on biorefineries, featuring a consensus workshop with lively discussions on topics such as
“Is a modern pulp and paper mill an example of a wood biorefinery?” and “What is the main challenge preventing biorefineries from scaling up?”.
These are truly essential questions for the transition towards a bio-based society! 🌲
This course would not have been possible without the leadership of Lauren Sara McKee (KTH), and valuable contributions from Hans Theliander, Merima Hasani, Amparo Jimenez Quero, Scott Mazurkewich, Johan Larsbrink, and Anette Larsson (Chalmers tekniska högskola), as well as Francisco Vilaplana (KTH) and Maria Karlsson (Bright Materia).
The WWSC Academy students are also visiting Processum Biorefinery Cluster and their amazing pilot plant, so cool!
We also got presentations from the High Coast Innovation Park and performed site visits to , Nouryon, Sekab and Övik Energy during our stay.
These were really, really appreciated visits! We are so thankful for these days in Ö-vik!
