My assignment at AFRY: I’m part of the project management team of a large-scale Financial Digital Trasformation assignment that has given me the chance to explore the company on a deeper level and work alongside amazing AFRY colleagues - including inspiring (female) leaders across the organisation. I’ve even had the opportunity to work globally, like with our team in Prague and Denmark 🌍✨

Beyond my assignment at AFRY: I have been active in the FLE program and partner day, and even represented AFRY at KTH Armada - so who knows, maybe we have met already! 💚

Feeling incredibly grateful for the opportunities to grow both in Sweden and internationally, and for the people and leaders I have met in my journey so far ar AFRY ✨

Many of us have seen the KONE logo in an elevator or escalator, but not everyone knows what KONE actually means! 👀

In Norwegian and Danish, “kone” means wife, which doesn’t exactly fit the world of elevators and escalators. 😆 In Albanian, it means puppy, and in Slovak, it translates to horses. 🐶🐴

But in Finnish, where KONE has its origin, “kone” means machine – which makes a lot more sense for a company that keeps moving people! 🏙️⚙️

Hi everyone! My name is Clara Wernelind and today you will get to know me and what I do at KONE. I was an FLE participant back in 2018 and after 2,5 years at another FLE-partner company I joined the KONE Family.

So I started my journey at KONE back in 2022 as a Maintenance Supervisor. Where I was
responsible for overseeing the operations of the central Stockholm district. I was managing a team of 12 maintenance technicians, supporting them in their daily work, making sure they had what they needed to be able to deliver on our service promise to customers.

Since February this year, I returned after one year of parental leave to a new role at KONE. So today I work as a project manager in the Nordic Strategy, Transformation & Marketing team. Follow along in the stories where I tell you more about what that means and why I love working at KONE.

Quick facts about me:
- 33 years old lives in Sundbyberg with my family 👨‍👩‍👦
Mom to Walter 1 years old (who loves to ride the elevator) 🛗
- M.Sc. Mechanical Engineering from Luleå Tekniska University 👩‍🎓
- When I’m not at the office you can usually catch me on the mountain ⛷️ (here I am with 3 other FLE alumni that I got to know during my time in the program)

Hi, I’m Johanna Sjöblom 👋

I was part of Female Leader Engineer 2021 and studied Mechanical Engineering at Lund University. After graduating, I joined Scania’s Young Potential Trainee Programme in 2022.

I had previously worked as a summer intern at Scania, so I was curious to learn more about the shift our industry is going through, with connectivity, electrification and autonomous vehicles shaping the future of transport.

During the trainee programme, I completed four rotations across Scania and TRATON. I’ll share more about these experiences in my Instagram Stories. For me, the programme was a great way to gain an overall understanding of how we work, experience different parts of the organisation, and get hands-on insight into sales and how we support our customers.

After the programme, I worked as a Project Manager focusing on product quality for our buses 🚌

Today, I work as a Strategy Manager within Research and Innovation at TRATON Group R&D, contributing to the future of sustainable transport.

Looking forward to sharing more of my journey 🚛✨

Diversity drives progress. At Scania, diversity is one of our corporate targets because it truly makes our business stronger. Balanced and diverse leadership leads to better decisions, stronger teams and increased innovation💚

Today, around 24% of our leaders are women — and our goal is 30% by 2030, with ambitions beyond that.

We start with managers because change begins at the top. Women need women as role models.

In a fast‑changing world, working with diversity isn’t optional — it’s essential. More female leaders, and greater diversity overall, are key to our continued success🌟

✨ Hi! 👋 I’m Sara Hermansson, Senior Vice President and Head of Scania Power Solutions.

My so called ”career” has been filled on ups and down but no regrets. My journey started at Scania through the Student Intro program, followed by the Female Leader Engineer trainee program; and I won the award in 2012. In 2014, I founded Female Leader Engineer together with three other winners, in my kitchen on a snowy January evening.  So it is amazing it is still alive and developing so well 12 years later 💪❤️

I joined Scania as a design engineer for customized trucks. Such a uncool title after such a cool program… yes I had issues with it. But(!) I loved what the job contained. I was responsible to develop a complete new fuel system for LNG and that on the other hand was supercool!! Later I started as a manager for hybrid and electric powertrain projects in R&D. I was in chock I got a job that I applied for but didn’t fulfill even half of the criteria’s: so lesson learned ALWAYS apply for the job you want, don’t filter out yourself!

Finally I left Scania in 2017 (picture #2 is me handing in my card in 2017) to join this strange startup building a battery factory in Europe. This guy called Peter Carlsson had reached out to me and I felt: why not give it a try? What is the worst thing that can happen?

Northvolt years lasted five intense years — the highest highs and the lowest lows. I joined when we were 20 people and left when we were 5000, with the first cells produced in 2022. During that time I went through a severe burnout and became a mom of two — a true rollercoaster. Northvolt felt like one of my babies, so even after I left, its bankruptcy was emotional.
A highlight, though, was when Scania acquired part of Northvolt — now Scania Industrial Batteries — and I got to welcome several people I hired back in 2017–2018. One of the coolest moments of my career. ✨Picture # 3 is from when our CEO visited their facility in Tomteboda right after our official launch in September last year.

Hi everyone! My name is Hannah Rosell and I work as a Development Engineer within fuel measurement technology at Scania, part of TRATON R&D 🌈 My journey here started thanks to Female Leader Engineer 2024 — an experience that expanded my network, exposed me to different leadership styles and gave me the opportunity to learn from an incredible group of talented, inspiring participants.

Sustainability and continuous innovation have always been passions of mine, which led me to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering for Energy and Environment at KTH. Those same passions also connected me to Scania. The company’s strong values, leadership principles and commitment to long‑term research and development really resonated with me, something I would not have discovered without FLE opening that door 🌱

One of my favorite memories from my time at Scania so far is the onboarding day for new employees. It is arranged several times a year and you get to meet colleagues from all corners of the organization, visit a production unit and, the highlight, drive trucks and buses yourself. It is hard to beat the feeling of sitting behind the wheel of a heavy vehicle for the first time 🚚

Today, I work closely with the internal combustion engine test cells, developing fuel measurement technologies based on evolving engine needs and future emission regulations 🧪 I love the mix of hands‑on work, data analysis, project management and problem‑solving — no day is the same.

Hi! 🙋🏽‍♀️ I’m Thelma Jöhncke, and I was part of the latest round of Female Leader Engineer (2025) during my final year at KTH.

I first connected with Fortum through the program, and what immediately stood out to me was the people; curious, open, and genuinely passionate about both the energy transition and each other. It’s a culture that felt inspiring and welcoming from day one and a place I could see myself in.

Today, alongside writing my master’s thesis, I’m working part-time as a Business Developer at Fortum. During my first month, I’ve had the opportunity to dive into an exciting project, learn from experienced colleagues, and even visit our office in Östersund. What I appreciate most so far is the trust you’re given early on, and the strong sense of collaboration across teams.

Looking back, I’m truly grateful for how Female Leader Engineer opened the door to Fortum and even more grateful to now be part of the team 💚 I’m excited for the future here and hopefully I’ll see some of you at the next partner visit!

Here are a few glimpses from my journey so far 🌞

Hello! 👋 I’m Beatrice Ponce de Leon (you might have seen me here before – then as Boström 😉).

I was part of Female Leader Engineer in 2018 during my studies at KTH, where I first met Fortum. I was immediately drawn to the culture — curious, passionate and incredibly smart people. After two years in management consulting, I joined Fortum in 2021, and nearly five years later that culture is still one of the main reasons I’m here.

The others reasons? Working for a company whose values align with my own, and the continuous opportunities to grow and take on new challenges!

Since joining Fortum, I’ve led two large company mergers, one carve-out project, worked as a line manager in strategic development, and led an amazing team within Hydro O&M. Since February this year, I’m leading the PMO (Project Management Office) for our Corporate Customers and Markets division. As the PMO, I’m responsible for driving the ex*****on of our development portfolio — from prioritisation to value creation and faster time to market. I’m truly grateful and humbled by all of these opportunities and my amazing colleagues at Fortum who have supported me along the way.

Looking back, it’s amazing to see how important FLE became for my journey 💚 I’m equally grateful that Fortum remains a partner company — and it’s always inspiring to meet new FLE participants and welcome some of them as our new colleagues!

Here a few glimspes of what my days look like at Fortum ✨
