Four new milking robots, and another one on the way! 🐄🤖

A new chapter in milking is underway at Mts. J.T. Bouma and A. Wesselius in the Netherlands 🇳🇱, where four DeLaval VMS™ V300 robots have recently been installed.

The farm is also using Flow-Responsive™ milking and DeLaval Behaviour Analysis, adding further insights into the herd and helping support everyday herd management.

And there’s more to come, with a fifth VMS planned for 2027.🎉

It’s been a busy few days for DeLaval Sweden, with Elmia Lantbruk (14-16 October) in full swing!

Elmia Lantbruk is one of Sweden’s major agricultural exhibitions, bringing together farmers and the wider agricultural industry to discover new technology, exchange ideas and see solutions in action.

This year, we had not one, but three DeLaval VMS™ V300 milking robots on site, with cows being milked live during the event.

We’ll be sharing some pictures from Elmia soon. 👀🐄

🐄 22 new DeLaval VMS™ V300 milking robots are heading to Nynäs Säteri in Sweden!

Brothers Karl and Henrik Gustafsson are moving to VMS™ Batch Milking as they prepare to grow their herd from around 600 to 1,000 cows.

With VMS Batch Milking, cows are brought to the milking area in groups at scheduled times, combining a batch milking approach with automated milking.

The new installation will also include 22 DeLaval Milk Cell Analysis units, providing insights into udder health and helping to identify early signs of mastitis.

VMS Batch Milking is gaining popularity worldwide, with more medium and large dairy farms adopting the approach.

🏆🐄💙 Another win to sink our teeth into!

Our DeLaval Flow-Responsive™ milking for VMS™ has received the 2026 Winner’s Trophy in the Animal Welfare category at Sommet de l’Élevage in France, Europe’s largest gathering dedicated to the livestock and agriculture industries.

Alexis Gautier, Chief Product Traite Robotisée, collected the award on behalf of DeLaval - and took just a little nibble. 😉

Flow-Responsive milking adapts vacuum levels individually to each teat based on milk flow, helping to support a more consistent milking process, cow comfort, and udder health.

👏 Another fantastic recognition for an innovation designed with both cows and farmers in mind.

☀️ 700+ visitors. Plenty of questions. One very busy farm.

On 3 October, we opened the gates of Hamra Farm, our commercial dairy farm located just behind DeLaval’s global headquarters in Tumba, Sweden, for our annual Open Day.

More than 700 people from the local community and beyond joined us to explore the farm. 🐄

The new VMS Barn was a big draw, with visitors queuing to take a look inside. There was plenty more to discover too, from tractors and harvesters to DeLaval solutions, history and fika (coffee and cake).

What really stood out was the curiosity about dairy farming and its future, with questions about everything from cows and milk production to how the farm operates. 🥛

From nursing to dairy farming: a career change that brought Eeva Karppinen back to her roots. 🐄🌱

Eeva is another amazing woman farmer we’re profiling as part of our ‘She Leads the Herd’ series, to mark the United Nations International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026.

After seven years working as a nurse, Eeva began a new chapter as a dairy farmer. In 2014, she took over her family farm, Hemminki Farm, turning her passion for farming into her profession.

It’s a job she loves because her work changes with the seasons. From daily barn work and animal care to fieldwork and crop production, no two days are quite the same.

And what does she find most rewarding? Welcoming new calves and watching her animals and crops thrive.

When one becomes two 🐄🤖

After installing their first DeLaval V300 in 2023, this farmer in Co. Kilkenny, Ireland, has just added a second DeLaval V300 to support herd expansion as cow numbers continue to grow.
