AMEU is an affiliated union of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC). Formerly known as Metal Industries Workers' Union (MIWU).

AMEU is an affiliated union under the Singapore National Trades Union Congress (NTUC). Establised in 1981 as Metal Industries Workers' Union, the Union was rebranded as Advanced Manufacturing Employees' Union in 2021. It has about 24,000 members up to date.

📢 Economic Growth Must Benefit Workers Too!

With Singapore's economy outperforming expectations, workers should receive their fair share of economic and productivity gains.

The National Wages Council (NWC) 2026/2027 Guidelines recommend wage increases of 6% to 8% for lower-wage workers earning up to $2,800 gross monthly.

AMEU joins NTUC in calling on employers to adopt the NWC Guidelines, share gains fairly with workers, and invest in skills upgrading and job transformation.

When retrenchment happens, knowing your rights and where to seek support matters.

In this case, NTUC PME supported a worker whose retrenchment benefit cap had been reduced. Following review and mediation, the employer agreed to provide the full 12 months of retrenchment benefits, an additional $72,000.

A reminder that workers do not have to navigate difficult employment situations alone.

In Parliament, Labour MPs highlighted the importance of protecting retrenched workers and strengthening support where needed — especially for workers in non-unionised companies.
