What is STEM? 🤔
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. It is an integrated learning approach that connects these four fields to help learners understand concepts through practical application.
However, STEM Education is not simply about learning four different subjects.
It is about developing the ability to:
🔬 Ask questions and investigate
💡 Generate ideas and explore possibilities
🧠 Think critically and solve problems
🛠 Design, build, and test solutions
🔄 Learn from failure and improve through iteration
For example, when students build a robot, STEM learning goes beyond simply learning how to assemble the robot.
Students are encouraged to ask:
“Why isn’t it working?”
“How can we solve the problem?”
“What could we change to make it work better?”
Through this process, they develop a problem-solving mindset, while also learning how to apply knowledge from different disciplines to real-world challenges. 🤖
That is why STEM can be understood as a learning approach that helps students develop the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed for the future.
